I knew it all along. I hate to admit it but...Jericho will be the champion for at least the rest of the year if not more. They're trying to force him down our throats!! Those belts will never get the respect they deserve if they keep them on him. It's becoming more and more apparent especially since HHH lost his title shot. Maybe he'll get a title shot before WM and win which would be cool or he could be tied up in that stupid angle. It's a scary thought. Everybody else has already tried and failed except for Undertaker, I don't think he's even had a shot. Y2J will be champ for a loooong time. Does anyone else think this sux?

Jericho plays a great heel, and his matches (usually) are fun to watch.
I don't see how you say the belts will never get respect. I've always felt that the longer someone holds a title and regularly defends it, the more the belts are worth. If there is a title change every night (hardcore title) the belt will be meaningless.

I expected Jericho to win. I didn't expect Angle to win, and that threw me in a loop before the final match, especially since the NWO hadn't shown up again. Angle v. Austin would have been a good main even as well, at Wrestlemania. But I can't believe the WWF will leave that booking alone until St. Partick's Day.
I don't hate Y2J, but he's just a little young punk. He should be feuding for the IC title. I doubt that the next champ will look at those belts and say "Wow, Chris Jericho held these belts". Not the respect that HHH or UT would get. It is losing prestige because he has it. He may hold them for a while but I don't think they'll ever be HIS belts. Mongoose Mcqueen my ass!

I'm not really surprised. Despite his stated "addiction," Austin doesn't really fit into the title storyline right now. Revenge is his real addiction, and I'm anxious to see the Steve Austin who broke into the ambulance and attacked Bret Hart get even with Hogan, Nash, and Hall.
It would have been stupid to have HHH win last night. There's still nearly a month to go till Wrestlemania and they still need to up the intensity. HHH securing his shot and just laying back for four weeks isn't the way to do that.
Bill Savage went over to the (Stu Hart) house and one of the Hart kids was running around with his hair wet. Savage asked why his hair was wet. Didn't people say the same type of things in HHH's first title first couple title reigns? It wasn't until his fued with Foley that he got some much deserved repect. Maybe Jericho just needs a good fued to change your mind, eh? Though, I don't think that he would totally go over somebody like HHH did to Foley because he's being played up as a different type of heel.
And as far as Jericho holding the belts the rest of the year- I really wouldn't worry about that. When was the last time somebody held the belt for an entire year. Diesel? And that was in a different era.

The only way to really elevate someone to main event status is to force him down out throats until we see him on the same par as the other main eventers.
That is how the HHH was elevated to main event status.

That's a good point. It's just that I waited so long for a WWF/WCW undisputed champion. And to see it put on the back burner like this is a real buzzkill. Jericho is supposed to make that title important by taking on all comers and getting some clean wins over top guys. But he's still a little poon-tang. I think I'm starting to hate the guy.

#1: If you hate the guy, then he's doing his job #2: Jericho is excellent at what he's doing now, it's no surprise that he has the belts imo. I am surprised at Angle winning, but I think that will lead to a triple threat at WM (with HHH getting back in the picture) #3: Scott Hall's Stunner was great. I love when the heels use the faces finisher. They should have all given him a Stunner. #4: I say now: Austin/Rock with Flair in their corner versus Nash/Hall with Hogan in their corner for WM main event, with Jericho/Angle/HHH for the belt. This gives one the option of HHH winning, then turning heel because "He turned his back" on Austin & Rocky to further his own gain; ie, the title was more important than "saving the fed" to him. Yeah, that'd be okay. And I'd be really surprised if Jericho held the belts past WM
Does anyone think that the belts will be split up somehow? I think we might have two title holders again, maybe as a result of a WM main event. This will help them split the promotion as they have often mentioned.
I was pretty sure Jericho would keep the belts once I had heard that the nWo would debut on the show. Even before the Austin-nWo skit, it was pretty obvious that the nWo would attack Austin and cost him the undisputed world title.
Exactly, just like HHH/Steph. She'll do everything she can to stop him from getting to Wrestlemania, much less winning the titles. And while everyone else is fighting over who gets to fight Jericho I.E Rock/Hogan, Taker/Flair???, Austin/Hall, Nash/whoever. That fool is still holding the belts. Like Bugs Bunny from the cartoons. He'd have 4-5 guys going after him, fighting in this big cloud of dust, and he's standing off to the side eating a carrot. It's kinda funny to me. I say give Taker a title shot, oh yeah Jericho can't work with the big guys, can't execute his moves right. Ah hell it would've been a good angle.

I hated Jericho as a face (for a long time, he won me back with that Rhyno feud, somehow). Now he's my favorite performer on the show. They guy is always good, he's got that cowardly heel act down and it seems to me that not too many people are even willing to play that role anymore. I think the fact that he just keeps finding ways to keep those belts makes it all the more awesome and I also don't see how it's been on the backburner. I mean sure the nWo has overshadowed it, but that's only because Jericho is a heel, they would overshadow any heel champion right now. They can't beat him down, so he can't mix in that storyline.
That being said, there's no way he retains at Wrestlemania. In fact, I think WM is going to be a great test of his character. Let's see if he can get himself booed in Canada. Then again, maybe that'll be Steph's job.
And I think you're fat. So how do you like me now?
