"The time for debate is really beforehand. Obviously history will speak on whether this was the right thing or the wrong thing, but right now (the soldiers) are out there. Support 'em. There's plenty of time for commentary later." -David Robinson
Originally posted by Mr. BoffoWell, obviously some people do, the darn logo's an animated gif! Anyway, I was wondering what kind of program I could use to make my own animated gifs (especially one that I want to use as my avatar).
Mr. B, I use a little cheapie shareware thing that serves my purpose called GIF contruction set. basically, it takes a series of images and turns them into an animated GIF. Takes time, but it's free to try and it works. Of course, there are other, better (and more costly) tools. But this program works for me.
other good programs I use are Ulead GIF Animator and JASC Animation Shop. Animation Shop comes with Paint Shop Pro. I know JASC (http://www.jasc.com) offers a free 30-day demo download so you might want to try that.
Another cool thing about most of these gif programs, if you have a video file, you can import it and turn it into a gif. It automatically cuts it down into the frames. They usually come out as big files but you can optimize them for a smaller file size (like my current avatar)
I was flipping channels and came across one of the original Pete and Pete movie specials, and I happen to think that the original shorts and later the movie versions of this were probably the most original tv I've seen.
