Heard of the site www.snopes.com that basically reviews a ton of different urban legends or stories that may show up in the news and then gives sources and tells you if they are true or not. It is pretty cool, and some of the items that are true are pretty surprising.

Oh yeah, snopes is invaluable. Great place to check for suspect "news stories" that get mass e-mailed.

If you're looking for books of urban legends, anything by Jan Harold Brunvand is worth taking a look at.

OMG NO WAY

I did some research AND this thing is apparently part of this GREAT BIG NETWORK OF COMPUTERS! that - get this - people are calling "the Internet."

Anybody else hear of this thing? This "Internet?"

(It's "site," by the way, not "sight")

I would recommend the "Big Book" of Urban Legends. It has a ton of FoaFS (Friend of a Friend Stories) illustrated by comic book artists...but, yeah telling folks on the internet to check out snopes is kinda like recommending google.

Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

I love those "Big Books". The conspiracy one is fantastic.

Geez you become the last person to hear about a site and everyone lets you know it. :)
