Man... this game is fucking great! It's like they took the good parts of FINAL FANTASY VIII and added a FPS fighting system to it.

I've got this cold fight now and a friend gave this to me since I'm staying home all sick and crap, and I haven't been able to get much sleep cause I can't put the fucking controller down. I haven't been this sucked into a game in years. I feel I need to go and get FALLOUT 3 now and give it a chance.

I'm also seeing that this will be extremely re-playable with all the different choices you have to make concerning who/what to kill, the different factions you can either join with or slaughter and even just run through the game and kill everything and everyone.

I feel the need to paraphrase Kanye West here and say that ya'll need to drop whatever games you're playing now cause THIS is one of the best games ever made!

If you're enjoying the different choices you're able to make, I'd suggest giving Alpha Protocol a try. It's also by Obsidian, and I don't think I've had two playthroughs ever go exactly the same way.

You are in for a treat. I've done just about everything I can in the game since it launched. Consisted of multiple replays and never getting bored. I am eagerly waiting for the DLC that is supposed to be released this month so I can get back into the world of Fallout.

I too thought about FF8. Not because of the game play or story though. Mainly it was the little thing of not being attacked if you stay on the main highways.

Also...yes, if you like New Vegas you should play Fallout 3. These games will keep you busy for months.

I was happy that I just finished it a third time (not running through the whole game, just switching my allegiances toward the end of the game), so I could finally stop playing after sinking 60-plus hours into it. I loved every hour of it, but I needed a break. Fantastic game though, best of the year after Mass Effect 2 for sure.

I always seem to get attacked on the highway. I`m not just talking northbound from Goodsprings either...

The world is a lot more dynamic than Fallout 3 although the soundtrack isn`t as good. Effective, catchy, and good, just not as good. I used to catch myself singing `Hackin and whackin and slashin, CHOP THAT MEAT`.

Limiting the amount of perks and skill points you get is the better since it encourages replay value even further. Fallout 3 I figured out a technique to have all skills maxed except one by level 30.

The armor system nerfs the minigun and gatling laser, especially for tough fights against the likes of Deathclaws and Centurions. The array of weapons is massive, and making custom ammo is a nice touch, but I`ve found myself generally sticking to unique weapons. This Machine and the Mysterious Magnum if I go guns, Gauss Rifle if energy weapons, Oh, Baby! if melee. Finding the unarmed moves is awesome.

Actually, creating anything in game has a sense of accomplishment.

I totally give it a 9 out of 10. Too many glitches, not as many big epic moments as Fallout 3, but still amazing considering every playthrough can be unique.

Lastly, without spoiling, getting to the root of Vault 11 is one of the best events in gaming ever. I`m talking on par with the first time you see a licker in Resident Evil 2, Kafka destroying the world in FF VI, and meeting Ryan in Bioshock.

Vault 11 was kinda fucked up. I wanna know why there were only 4 bodies at the entrance though. Is the fifth person out in the wastelands somewhere?

The whole White Glove society was sick too. Gotta love cannibals.

I think I screwed up though, by having Cass with me when I went to see the Omertas. I kinda got freaked and just started killing when the brother threatened to kill her. Should I have waited? I guess I'll know when I play it again.

Deathclaws are easy from a distance but there was this one cave/mine where there were a dozen of them that wasn't that fun and then there wasn't anything IN the cave worth going through all of that shit. Boone was kicking ass at the quarry though. He's been the best partner so far.

I swear, maxed out Melee, high unarmed, the perks where your melee and unarmed are penetration 15 and you do +50% damage with melee against abominations, and a Super Sledge is on of the most efficient ways I have of killing Deathclaws.

Bloodwind Cave? The Unique Grenade Machinegun that fires 40mm rounds is in there. It's also one of two locations, aside from the quarry, where you can get Deathclaw eggs for the Thorn...

And you didn't screw up by getting Cass killed unless you really liked having her character around. The ending changes accordingly to which of 4 main story outcomes you follow and each side-faction outcome depending on how far you advanced it. This includes all your companions.

No, that would have been Dead Wind Cavern, home of the Legendary Deathclaw. I'm pretty sure there was a unique grenade launcher in that cave, which might be useful to some but not to me since my explosives skill never got touched. All I need is guns maxed out and my Gobi Scout Rifle, best gun in the game.;)

I poured a ton of time into this and got the NCR ending, but I did save at a point where I can still get the Yes Man and Mr. House endings.

Just avoid the Legion if you are trying to not piss them off just yet. Boone will give you warning.

I found Boone and Veronica to be the best companions. Lean a little more towards Veronica though. Besides being one tough cookie, she has some funny conversation.

Also, I recently completed the Hardcore mode. Not as hard as I thought it would be. Probably a lucky decision made the difference for me. With my Hardcore character I chose to use the melee and unarmed approach. Going through the game, I virtually avoiding every gun and ammo crate (except a few of the staples) causing me to not carry the burden of ammo and gun weight. Really allowed to me stay stocked up on food, doctor bags and water.

This is why I think this game is so fabulous; anybody could contribute to this conversation, have valid points as to what strategy or playstyle is best, yet be just as right as anybody else.

I got the Gobi after This Machine, but I prefer a midrange approach to fighting.

For all intents and purposes, Raul is my favorite companion. Danny Trejo's deadpan sarcasm in situations is killer, he can be equipped with anything, including power armor, and my stuff degrades a lot more slowly. Veronica's great once you've visited the White Gloves and gotten her formal wear (the dress she's going on about) and once you've put a rediculous hand to hand weapon like a Ballistic Fist on her you really don't have to fight much anymore, putting the .50 cal on Boone is also great. The only companion I don't care for is Arcade, but I've never gone through the effort to develop him either. I think his storyline is about how he's an Enclave remnant.

So, without resorting to Gamefaqs, and before going through to do the unarmed Hand to Hand playthrough, I've found unarmed moves from the Ranger in Novac, Veronica, Jack and Diane in the Great Khan's camp, and Lucius in Ceasar's tent. Any others?

I don't know how much longer this'll last, but right now at Blockbuster you can rent Fallout: New Vegas for $1.99 with the rental of any other premium game (XBox 360, Wii, PS3) at full price.
