| #21 Posted on 7.10.02 2320.01 | I have seen the mention of that book, but never seen it. Saw the cover of last seasons on the website.
Never saw a Just Hockey issue though, only seen the online stuff.
I will look for both though, and tell you what I think when I do see them!

| #22 Posted on 8.10.02 1713.08 | I know here the WCHL is going into it's last season before merging into the ECHL. That will give the ECHL 40 teams across the country. I'll take minor league hockey. I love the NHL, but the guys in the lower minors are scrappy!

The WCHL isnt MERGING with the ECHL, they are being absorbed by them. I just cant wait until the playoffs begin and all the teams in the west have to travel east, and vice versa. Imagine a finals between Anchorge and Pee Dee? The flight times would make the finals go a week and a half! | Rvrkings44

How on earth are they going to afford travel expenses??
I got to see the Gulls play OKC a few times a couple of seasons ago, and we were at the WCHL-CHL All-Star game in San Diego. Really nice arena, and the city is gorgeous!

Those Anchorage to PeeDee bus trips are a bitch. :-)

Depends on the arena.
At Royals games, right-up-against-the-boards is a terrible place to be, because the plexiglass partitions are fuzzy -- if you're sitting across from one set of face-off circles, the far end of the rink is just a blur. A little higher up works great.
At Phantoms games, on the other hand, a friend and I have seats directly behind the opposing goaltender (we could reach over and beat on the goal judge's booth, if we were so inclined). This is prime heckling territory, because they _can_ hear you from there. To date, I have one broken goalie stick to my credit, courtesy of a Mighty Ducks netminder who was getting shelled, heard one quip too many and took his anger out on the crossbar.
(Quality heckling without profanity or ethnic slurs is an art form, when performed correctly. Gotta put the "advantage" in "home-ice advantage.")

He's still around, but I don't know if he still attends games regularly.

Actually, and I should have phrased this better in my original post, the six existing WCHL clubs are going into the ECHL as expansion teams following this season. So the San Diego Gulls will go into the ECHL as the five time, five time, five time, five time, five time Taylor Cup champions!

| #30 Posted on 10.10.02 2116.08 | Well, I can't really afford to attend Flames games here in town. It's really expensive to go see a pro hockey hame. However, Calgary has three minor league teams:
WHL's Calgary Hitmen (www.calgaryhitmen.com) -Tickets start at $16.00
AJHL's Calgary Royals (www.calgaryroyals.ab.ca) (ticket prices unknown)
AJHL's Calgary Canucks (www.calgarycanucks.com) -Tickets cost $8.00 a game for adults.
I loved seeing the Barrie Colts and the Oshawa Generals in action when I lived in Barrie and Oshawa respectiveley. OHL fans are known to be really crazy...and I loved the spirit of the crowds. I'll catch a good number of AJHL games this winter, for sure!

| #32 Posted on 14.10.02 1505.25 | I attended three games this weekend:
Friday: ECHL. The Reading Royals dismantled the Wheeling Nailers, 7-3, after jumping out to a 5-0 lead. Fun game.
Saturday: AHL. The Phantoms STOLE one from the Rochester Americans, in a game that was simply painful to watch. Neil Little did acrobatics in goal to send the game scoreless to OT, and it took a two-man advantage with 13 seconds left for the Phantoms to finally score and end it. They were outplayed top-to-bottom, and did little in the first two periods besides testing out their penalty-killing units. The Philly crowd was eating their own (besides Little) by the third period -- other than Kirby Law and the Vandermeers, nobody came to play.
Sunday: ECHL. Trenton beat the Royals 7-3, in a game that was closely contested until the third. Two bad defensive plays early in the third put it out of reach, with two late empty-netters.
