| #1 Posted on 17.2.04 1307.58 | Instant Rating: 0.00 | There is a petition going on to alter the main event of Wrestlemania from the proposed Triple Threat between Benoit, Michaels, and Triple H into a singles match or singles matches. It's very well written, and has picked up a bit of momentum in the day it's been up, and I can assure you, as one of the petition's writers, that we ARE taking this seriously enough to snail-mail a printed version of it to the WWE, in the hopes that they change their mind.
The WWE does ultimately want to give the fans what they want, and there is definitely a vocal moment against this Triple Threat match; so if you care as much as we do, please sign.
The petition is at 80 signatures and counting, and by Friday, hope is that there will be enough signees to be worth sending off to McMahon and company.
There's a small chance we can change their minds, and it's damn worth it if it means the main event of the biggest Wrestlemania since the first!

Somebody signed as Paul Lesvesque and wrote this: Just put me against one of the two Dad, Shawn will probably make me look okay but Benoit would totally show me up plus he's too small to Main Event anyway so just let me squash him in five seconds like everyone else.
Somebody signed as Chris Benoit, another signed as REY REY 619 asking for Rey to be included in the match. Somebody signed as 3137. Somebody signed as "Suck My Dick". Hell, even somebody signed in favor of the triple threat match.
Send this to WWE and they will wipe their asses with it.

On the subject of the 3 way, it sucks, but what ELSE is HBK gonna do? It's a decent storyline, so I wouldn't totally shit on it. You can read so much into it, ala Hunter not wanting to be shown up by a better worker then him AKA Benoit, but it's no secret, so who cares? HHH? So what? The bottom line to ME is who walks out with the title? Does HHH drop it? So if he does, and HBK is the one pinned, and Benoit wins, about that? Hunter is just ribbing the IWC in the end, in his own way and protecting his spot. He's a douche but you have to admire his levels of douchness. | The Great Thomas

There'll be a letter mailed along with the petition with more honest totals portrayed, and another genuine plea for them to reconsider.
Perhaps this, along with other fan reaction factors will contribute to the WWE changing their plans- you really never know unless you try, and I plan on at the least trying.

Any company that gets any pettions from that site would do the same. Online petitions are considered a major joke by most corporations and companies for the very reason you pointed out, Dave.
Writing to the company personally does more, especially if someone takes the time to write a letter and stick a stamp on an envelope. Showing your support through your wallet does a lot as well. Online petitions, however, don't commonly help anyone except let some people blow off steam.

Here's a better solution:
How about we, as wrestling fans, collectively pick a day this week to mass e-mail Meltzer for example, and make our voice heard through him. If Meltzer sees his inbox and looks at how overwhelming the opposition to the main event is and writes about it in his newsletter, it will trickle down to the front office. It won't do anything still, but that's our best bet. | JoshMann

Or you could do what's been proven to work in many situations... go to the trouble of hand writing a letter and sending it to the WWE. Any asshat can send off an e-mail in 30 seconds. It's the people that go to the trouble of writing a letter and then mailing it that garner the most attention. | standback

If you, like myself, are against the main event being a Triple Threat match, join me in hitting up the WWE with actual letters.
It's really depressing to watch folks sit back, complain, and not do SOMETHING about something they care about get mishandled. It was about this point in 2000 when Mick Foley got added to the scheduled Triple Threat Match, due to fan reaction to the storylines heading into Mania.
It might be a slim chance, but it's worth the effort.

And for a few chuckles, I read through the previous posts, and here's one that caught my attention:
Stephanie McMahon-Levesque Greenwich, CT USA Daddy, can I have my TV time back now? I think I should take Shawn's place in this match, so we can give the fans what they want: more of me and my husband!
Ya know, I can actually picture her saying that... wierd.
