Ken Kennedy apparently suffered the same injury as Batista (torn lat) except much more serious. No word on when Kennedy will be back, though Wrestlemania might be a longshot at this point.

Another tough break for Smackdown, losing their most popular new guy in a while. I wonder when the injury occurred, since we haven't seen Kennedy featured on the show in the last couple of weeks.

Other than the long thread title...I have one of those great one liners.

Once again in the voice of Ron Simmons/Farooq: Damn.

I had been wondered the same thing on where ,"MR....KENNEDY................KENNEDY!", was. Now I know...Smackdown is taking a beating on the injury list.

Dave Schreer posted an update ... looks like we might not see Kennedy until early summer 2006 ... too bad, as he was on the cusp of main eventing.

Kennedy tried to work through it but couldn't due to the severity of the injury. From what I was told, surgery is scheduled for later this week. He will be out of action about six months.

Hey, I know people love the guy, but let's not jump way ahead of ourselves. He hasn't participated in any meaningful feuds since being called up, or any feuds at all for that matter, and has yet to move beyond "Kennedy...Kennedy" in terms of mic work. Let's see what he can do beyond the quasi-comedy schtick before making him a ME'er.

I think he might have meant "by default" the way things are going on Smackdown.

I suppose the guy is getting over. I mean, I knew who was hurt from the title of the thread, but there's no reason to think that Kennedy was carrying the brand on his back, or that he was even that important to anything on the show for that matter. The last thing I remember him doing was being in a tag match with the Ortons against Piper and someone. If you're talking about their most popular new guy, I've gotta give that vote to Lashley. That's the guy holding the Smackdown Rookie of the Year Award in the palm of his hand.

You have to wonder how Benoit's contract negotiations are going. It seems every week he holds out, the better his position gets.

Honest to god, I don't know why he hasn't been signed yet. It officially became insane to not adhere to his every demand once Eddie was found.

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

I think the whole "cusp of the main event" thing is because the company is supposedly so high on him. I think he was getting a nice little cult following, and it's always a good sign when the fans don't reject the new guy right off the bat, but I think it was mainly that managment dug him. I read that he even got the Kennedy surname (as in Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon) because VKM liked him though I can't remember where I read that so I dunno if it's true.

Given Christian's comments since signing with TNA, I think that the "lowballing" rumors were just that, and that Benoit's status has more to do with his age and the death of his close friend rather than money.

They really need to find a way to move a couple of upper-level guys from Raw to SD.

If Edge is sufficiently healthy, having him cash in the Money In The Bank and challenge for the World title (which is what his shot is supposed to be for, anyway) would be perfect.

Benoit's resigned, hasn't he? I thought J-Sharp (thanks, Spiff) dropped that little nugget of info a coupla weeks back.

I didn't say that he was going to be main eventing Wrestlemania 22, but he's been involved in some tag matches with main event players like Batista, JBL, the late Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton. If that isn't "on the cusp", then I don't know what is.

About a month ago I had two reasons to watch SD!
1. Eddie
2. Kennedy
Not to compare the his injury to Eddie's passing, but there just isn't really many reasons left to watch that show. If I wanted to see Undertaker's 80's rasslin' crap, I would pull out my copy of Royal Rumble '94.

How can you want a HHH-Rock tag team. Kawshen, let me take out a dictionary and show you the word continuity. When last seen HHH was still the main heel in the WWF. Austin was his do boy, an Arn Anderson type cronie if you will.
