What people seem to forget in Bungle land is that in order to be successful you have have to BLOCK FOR THE QUARTERBACK. The Bungles have not blocked well for 10 years. If you can't protect the QB you can't win!
I would also point out at how could Corey Dillon has been for the last 5 years without an offensive line. Could you imagine how good he would be with 5 guys blocking for him? His name would be mentioned with the greats if he would have got the hell out of Cincy and to a team with a line.
2001 Sacks Allowed: Bears 17 Jets 19 Packers 22 49ers 26 Dolphins, Chargers, Raiders 27 Bengals 28
That doesn't seem too bad to me...and they passed ALOT. (602 attempts, 2nd in the NFL)
Granted they're struggling a little this year, but over half of the sacks they've allowed are attributed to Richmond Webb, who's out for the year. Kitna only got sacked once this past weekend and barely got pressured.

| #22 Posted on 8.10.02 2156.02 | My opinion is that bad teams should not get rookie QBs. It sometimes works out but most of the time it hurts the QB of the future's career. Teams need to have a decent defense, a running game, some decent receivers, and a line for a QB to be effective. That is why I think that Cinci whould stick with Kitna. Smith isn't exactly a rookie anymore but he still might have a future. I can't see Kitna ever being more than a backup or a mediocre starter.

WRONG!
The key is to get an awesome rookie QB and build the team around him, ala' Peyton Manning at Indianapolis.
The problem with Cincy, is, they have no good QB coach, and they're offensive coach isn't great either. Personally, I could see them winning in the future and ruining their chance to get the number one round pick. Who do they get instead? Eli Manning.

they tryed that here in DC, and look, a rookie shall lead the way, so, go figure ^_^

| #25 Posted on 9.10.02 2155.26 | Riki you do have a point that it sometimes work. Of course Manning was one of the smartest QBs to come up in years. But most of these rookies that have far more balls than brains and just want the money suck when they start too quick. Plus didn't Indy have some of the things I mentioned? Like a running game and some good receivers?

| #26 Posted on 10.10.02 1514.24 | Indy had a running game thats for sure.
Mannings first year was Marshall Faulks last in Indy, then they drafted Edge.
They also already had Marvin Harrison as a WR.
In theory, Cincinatti thinks they have those things too. Certainly Dillon is a good RB, but they have not had a proven #1 WR threat for quite a while...

Man, Icky Woods is there, every home game. If you have tickets in the in-door section, than you get an hour of Icky Woods stories, best games, and him doing a shuffle demonstration for you. So, THERE! Me, personally, I wish Boomer's son would grow up, or Herbstreet would go back to football. Not really, but I can daydream...
