I don't know if this is wanted enough by anyone to warrant doing it, or if it's even worth the trouble, but I thought I'd ask...

When you do a search of posts, on the results page where it says "Click here to jump to this thread", would it be possible to put the title of the thread you're jumping to somewhere around that?

Actually, I've been meaning to disable the older search option now that Google is hitting the site. Maybe I could just drop it down to a 1 week period. The problem is, it's pretty processor intensive since it is searching every post using a wildcard rather than hitting a full-text index. I never got around to building one... so it really is a bad idea to leave it in place long term.
