At about 20:00 CST (aka "in about half an hour") we'll move into ANONYMOUS MODE - all the usernames and their associated garbage (header/sigs) will DISAPPEAR from the message board - the information will still be logged, and you'll be able to see it again after we're done, but during the next 24 (give or take 24) hours, you'll only see posts but not know who's behind 'em. Will this change anyone's behaviour? Will people suddenly be listened to who weren't before? Will some people still be painfully obvious even without any hints? How many people will try to make others think they're CRZ? STAY TUNED

PS Don't be any more of an asshole than you already are, please - I can still ban people and would like to see how this works, as opposed to undoing it in 45 minutes after it's proven that people have no idea how to act when the masks are on.

At first I thought, "wow... this is a major change to the board." Then I realized what was going on.

I thought Troll Amnesty was coming first, though.

This is very, very cool. I think I know one poster, but the rest are a total mystery.

"He is the most overrated piece of crap in the league. He bitched and whined after he got his ass beaten in New England last year, so the NFL changed the rules. Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning

Nuclear Winter: Celebrating two years of mediocre posts.

Honestly? I don't like it. It's sorta driving me crazy. And not like Britney Spears used to drive me crazy. Like Todd Grisham drives me crazy.

Make it stop, I beg thee.

I like it. Awesome idea, I say-- I love social experiments, and it'll be interesting to see if everyone can maintain their usual standards of behavior. Of course, knowing that it lasts only 24 hours, and that the moderators aren't bound by this restriction, will naturally have an effect on the outcome of the experiment.

Is it just me or is everything wider?

I think it's artificially wider because all the fonts and font sizes are standardized, and there's nothing on the left-hand-side of each post box.

So did this take a massive amount of work? Because it sure seems like it did.

It's a pretty cool idea, but obviously this would get old after a day or two or at least until we all figured out who each other is.

How much responsibility will people be culpable for once we know who said what? I mean, right now, what's to stop someone from posting repeatedly in a given thread? If it turns out later that a thread was really just two people going back and forth, which is normally poor etiquitte, will they be retroactively punished?

Or are you going to assume that everyone will misbehave, therefore we get 'Everyone is banned' day?

Agreed. Color me impressed.

Also, now that you've done it, how easy have you made it to do it again? I mean, have you fixed it so you can just "turn it off & on" again at will, or would you have to code & re-code step-by-step all over again?

Ditto.

And mad props and thanks to the Brother's Zim for going all out for Sweeps Month. Definitly entertaining!

It wasn't THAT hard - mostly, just putting a lot of comments into the existing code. Basically I dropped one set of pages in where the original set used to be. When it changes back, it'll just be a matter of moving the old set back in.

By the way, the moderators and admins are just as hamstrung as everybody else - we all have the same thread views today. There is ONE exception for the admins, but I don't plan on using it unless absolutely necessary and since I haven't told the other two what it is, they're probably content to just leave things to me until I change it back....

Given that I can't start a thread in CRZ's World, I bet the forum is still smart enough to stop people from posting in a thread where they already have the last message.

As for what's stopping people from posting repeatedly over the course of a day, well, nothing is, I suppose.

Personally, I love this new look - I've hated all of your stupid signatures for a very long time. If you're offended, I don't mean yours (yes I do)

I could name which person made that post in two guesses.

I'm just worried about how I'll keep up on Everyone Is Banned day. I mean, if I'm banned, how am I going to read and post?

I would've prefered the formating to stay the same, with everybody's info set to display a ??? image or something. The lack of the normal size constraints is messing with my mind.

(I'll be used to it in another five minutes, I'm sure)

Very cool idea though. Maybe we should have an anonymous forum for a while and see what (if anything) the lack of identities could bring?

Oh man, time to go hit up politics.

So I hit "reply" in the "One Question" board and start to write some stuff. I scroll down, and guess what? You still see other people's posts (the latest ones posted anyways), which isn't anything new or exciting.

But if they've edited their post, you'll see "edited by (insert username here)", which means they're no longer anonymous (for that post, anyways).

I think Anonymous Day and the other Sweeps Month events are cool and quirky! It'd be pretty neat if theme days/weeks like this happened every now and again. How about Spring Sweeps? At any rate, bravo to the Brothers Zim!
