GRAND COUNTY - An armed man, driving a piece of heavy equipment, destroyed several buildings in the town of Granby Friday afternoon. Witnesses said he was using the re-tooled Caterpillar bulldozer like an armored vehicle, crashing into buildings.

The rampage started around 2:00 p.m. About three hours later, the armored vehicle finally came to a stop halfway inside a building. Police and sharpshooters had it surrounded.

I only ask because from all those Real TV and COPS shows have those choppers in California following people on rampages and long getaways on those freeways out there. I think that many would get some skewed outlooks on Cali due to all that chase footage that gets shown live.
Was that runaway tank in San Diego? I just remember it being "out west".
I'm just glad that we've only had two real big "chases" out here. One had a carjacker that didn't know a kid was in the back of the SUV and panicked when he realized he had a kid with him and the other was that low speed chase with that dude on the tractor in DC.
There's just WAY too much traffic on 495/95 for any real chases out here.

It's actually a Colorado thing, and I read that it's an extraordinarily small town. According to here: http://news.yahoo.com/ news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/ 20040605/ap_on_re_us/ bulldozer_rampage_9 It's similar to another incident in a small Colorado Rocky town. Maybe it's the thin air up there.

BULLDOZERS don't kill people. PEOPLE kill people.Originally posted by 9News.com Holahan said the driver was also firing from the vehicle with a 50-calibre weapon.
Obviously, the driver felt that his re-tooled bulldozer wasn't causing enough destruction and mayhem; hence the need to incorporate some heavy artillery in his rampage.Originally posted by 9News.com William Hertel, owner of High Altitude Audio, on Main Street saw the drama unfold from the roof of his building.
Exactly what type of idiot heads for his roof top during a bulldozer rampage? I wonder if Mr. Hertel, while getting his bird's eye view, stopped to think "Hey, what if he decides to destroy this building? Good thing I'm up here on the roof so I'll be able to watch it!Originally posted by 9News.com There were no reports of injuries.

I thought the oddest paragraph was this:
Holahan identified the man driving the Caterpillar as 52-year-old Marvin Heemeyer. Authorities did not say whether he was still alive.

He welded sheets of metal to the side of his bulldozer, making it a tank. They couldn't see him, and couldn't penetrate his armor. Eventually they did, and he blew his brains out, apparently.

DUDE. If somebody starts going on a bulldozer rampage through MY town, I'm sure as hell going to try and get a good vantage point. This sort of thing doesn't happen all the time. | jwrestle

That was here in, I know it sounds as if I'm putting myself over with the rest of the sentence, West Virginia by the way.
