I jumped on to WWE.com tonight hoping to see an article that said Brock Lesnar is ok after his brutal bump during Wrestlemania when I found a very interesting article about Angle's neck injury.

Angle needs surgery, but may not miss year

This sounds very interesting and really promising. I wonder what Kurt will do.

Well, if Scott Hall likes him, this guy must be good! [/sarcasm]

Seriously, if this procedure is as good as it sounds, then God has smiled on us WWE fans. Let's just hope that this guy isn't some kind of a quack and Angle is jeopardizing his career.

Also, if this new procedure will make neck fusion obsolete.....then sucks to be Edge.

From the desk of Swordsman Yen
“Nice guy,” Angle said of Hall. “I don’t know him very well, but I enjoyed talking to him. I talked to him for about 45 minutes. He had nothing but graciously good things to say about this doctor. He said, ‘Kurt, nobody knows about this guy. I told this doctor, he needs to get his name out there and become the premiere doctor for neurosurgery.”

I don't know why, but I just busted out laughing picturing Scott Hall saying that in his trademark accent and the doctor responding with, "Hey mang, I don't sing it, I bring it."

Well if this means that we'll have a healthy Kurt Angle back in a short time, then I'm all for it. I don't think I (and the WWE for that matter) could handle losing Angle for a year.

Be nice to me, or you won't get an XFL franchise.

Is it just me, or would one have to think twice about putting ``Scott Hall'' and ``sound medical advice'' in the same sentence?

Canadian Bulldog: Maybe, but Scott Hall's degeneration as a wrestler had less to do with being injured and much, much more to do with the fact that he became a lazy bastard when the Clique took over WCW.

Anything that gets Kurt healthy and back on my TV ASAP is worth trying.

Sure, and I'm just kidding around -- you just hear a doctor's referral by Scott Hall, and its not the first person you might want to hear from. But seeing as Hall could still wrestle post-surgery should be encouraging... was just poking a bit of fun there.

I dunno. I hope at the very least that Kurt has the sense to get a third and even fourth opinion before he makes a decision. An injury of this magnitude isn't something to screw around with. I'd rather see no Angle for a year and have him come back healthy as possible than have no Angle for six weeks and then come back with his neck held together by chewing gum and baling wire.

Am I the only one whose first thought upon hearing this was: Paging Dr. Riviera, Dr. Nick Riviera?

Well, perusing his website Click Here (drjho.com) doesn't mention anything about performing any operation for $129.95 or receiving a diploma from Hollywood Upstairs Medical College.

I thought the exact same thing...

I could even picture it now... HI EVERYBODY! with Angle replying in his usual dorky manner... HI DR. JHO!

I've actually heard of procedures similar to this before. I handle worker's comp claims for a living, and remember sitting in on a presentation from a neurosurgeon where he described an outpatient surgery similar to the one this guy is talking about. As I recall, he would also put these rods into the person's spine to help support it after the procedure.

What I'm not sure of is whether this would be the ideal way for a bump-freak like Kurt to go. He takes a lot more risks than Hall, and this new procedure might not be as stable in the long-term as the fusion process.

Well, as long as Hall didn't meet him at the bar, it should be ok.

If he's a nuerosurgeon in Pittsburgh, he's probably working out of UPMC, and, to me, that's enough for me to say he's brilliant and this is an excellent idea.

Here's hoping it goes well.

The doctor said "“He said, ‘You don’t need fusion. I don’t like fusion,’” Angle said. “As a matter of fact, fusion is horrible, because when you fuse your neck together, that weakens the other parts of the neck and makes them more vulnerable to injury. Then you have to fuse that. Before you know it, you just have a block on your neck.”

Has he SEEN Kurt Angles neck? It is already a block!

I don't know. If this new surgey cut rehab time to say, six months, then I would be happy that Kurt will be back sooner than expected and healthy. But six weeks? From one year to six weeks?

Granted, this may be a real medical breakthrough. But I still hope that Kurt gets a second, third, fourth and fifth opinion before trying this. The last thing we need is Kurt's head flying off the next time he takes a german.

On a side note, does anyone else secretly believe that his body would get back up from that and wrestle a **** match out of reflex?

Well, we can weigh the options all we want, but it's all up to Kurt, and whatever he decides we have to accept. But, if it cuts down on recovery time, then research as much as you can before you go through with it.
