According to the Torch, Angelina Love was released by TNA because she's been working with an expired work visa.
Perhaps the Canadians on the board can shed some light on the legalities of this.
Short term, this sure screws up the TNA Knockout Tag Team Tournament and leaves Velvet Sky in a lurch. I can't imagine TNA wouldn't get Love's visa status fixed and re-sign her ASAP. But if she's free from her TNA contract, wouldn't WWE be in their rights to come calling and waving money in her face?
However long Velvet is left alone without her better working half, she's definitely over enough where she'll survive. The singles matches will be awful, but her ring entrance and hotness will always prevail.
This is touching on spoiler stuff for the next couple of weeks, but TNA did set up a situation where Velvet Sky has another partner to team with. They very well could just continue on with an adjusted team and keep them both out of singles matches, though I don't know that they'd be much better.

Tough to say without knowing what type of visa she was on (H-1B, TN), but if it expired and she didn't get it renewed, then she can't legally work for TNA...or anyone else.
If she has been knowingly working with an expired visa, she could face a 10-year ban from entering the US. USCIS frowns on people who overstay their visas...which is why the Mrs. and I did it right when I moved down here. You don't want to mess with those folks!
