I doubt it. First, its probably a stunt by someone else poising as Andy. Second, I don't know who writes for Yahoo News, damn, invest in spell check program. Third, if it was Andy, he would have done it on a more high profile venue than the internet, I'd say we see him on Letterman. Lastly, don't believe everything you read.
If Lawler mentions it on RAW this Monday, then you know it's a SHOOT BABY!
Seriously, have Andy's friends and family announced this (as the person claims on "his" blog)? Until I hear definite confirmation about them heralding his return, I'll assume it's a fake ...

Just so you guys know: 75% of this crap [you read on the internet] is made up, either by the writer, or the wrestler the writer is getting the dirt from. Just so you know. -- Statement by "Tammy Sytch", from Hyatte's Dec. 29th column ... Lest we forget.
I'm not saying Andy *wouldn't* have done this - only that he didn't. Don't get me wrong, I'll play along. I'm curious where this is going and figure Bob Zmuda is more likely behind it than some random fan - but whoever it is, it ain't Andy Kaufman.
(Although, if you go to his blog, he also says he might be Ann Coulter. That I'd believe - seriously, there's no way she's real.)
For what it is worth, the last scene of Man on the Moon showed Clifton performing, and then had a pan out into the crowd where Giamatti (as Bob Zmuda) was sitting watching the show.
So it's not like Zmuda hasn't brought this up before.

At the bottom of this "press release" (well, I guess it IS a press release) there is a link to PRWeb.com. Yes, you, too, can have your very own press release show up on Yahoo!

Don't let the URL fool you - ANYBODY can write a "press release." It ain't automatically news.
Finally getting a chance to read the blog, it does look like the PR is just a word for word copy of what is listed at the blog.
I guess on the 16th at the House of Blues there was a scheduled "Andy Kaufman: Dead or Alive?" special pieced together by Zmuda. However I haven't been able to find out anything regarding what actually went down at this event.
Eh, it's a hoax. Seeing is believing, and plain as day, we haven't seen him, have we?
Yahoo! News may have been caught, hook, line, and sinker on this one. I'm actually more interested to see any remarks on their integrity, unless of course we're all wrong and Andy Kaufman is still alive.
Has Yahoo! bungled big time with false news in the past?

I didn't make this clear earlier; I'll try again.
This isn't news - it's a reprint of a press release, which they do all the time for lots of different press release companies. Anybody with the cash can subscribe to one of these services and put out their "news." The large headline "Press Releases - featureXpress" is supposed to be how you decide this isn't really news, not the "news.yahoo.com" in the URL. There's no credibility issue for Yahoo! News because they attempt to make it clear this isn't their reporting...or that it's even news, as opposed to a press release.
I'd even go so far as to speculate that Y! merely reprints these things verbatim as they come in, and doesn't even look at them as they come down.
My friends keep telling me, "Andy - why don't you go on Letterman, man? Or Barbara Walters? Let everyone know you're back."
What I did broke the trust of a lot of people in this country, not to mention many close friends and family members. I will never again be able to gain back that trust. Not even after public appearances or even DNA testing. Some will always have their doubts. I don't care about those people anymore.
I care about my fans, the ones who understood my rare form of comedy meets performance art spectacle. That's why I'm going to give back to you guys only, and tour the country appearing unexpectedly at local Starbucks and Wal-Marts.
I've been working on a lot of new characters these last twenty years, which I may be disguised as:
aging comedy legend who still thinks everyone recognizes him
hippie turned yuppie guy in suit, now with bad coke habit
aging fat and bald guy who thinks he is god's gift to women
black turtleneck wearing pseudo-intellectual anti-war nerd-chic guy
and more.
The tour begins TODAY! Be sure to tell your friends and alert the local media when you spot me!
Obviously, at this point, it goes without saying it's not him - but I'm pretty sure if heaven exists, Andy's getting a kick out of this whole thing himself right now.

What else does Zmuda have going on right now besides making money off of Andy?
Let's see. Maybe running Comic Relief for the past 20 years?

He's using the Andy Dead or Alive party as a fund-raiser.
I give him credit for trying to raise money for the organization -- which I no idea was still around -- but it again seems to be waving the Andy flag to 1) make money and 2) get publicity.
Strikes me as a bit tasteless, but I'm sure Zmuda would say Andy would be all for it.

That hasn't happened to me, but I haven't tried to buy anyone out. I did hear about that happening to other people over at the EWR site, and Adam either fixed it in the most recent patch, or else the fix is upcoming. Check the site.
