Good lord, is this company so bad at planning and timing that need FOUR HOURS for just seven matches? I guess you could see this move coming given the lack of big stars in the Andre Royale this year, but still, dude.
"They showed Kazarian talking on his cell phone. Tenay said that was a sign of disrespect. West suggested that perhaps Kazarian was phoning in the moves to someone who is going to help him prepare to face one of these wrestlers. That's one of the worst guesses in history for why someone is on the phone."
There is that shitty concert no one asked for in the middle of this thing. That is why they need four hours. I am hoping its around 9 pm, so I could turn it to Walking Dead. Honestly, I will feel bad if the tag match gets cut.
Does being on the preshow count as as much as a demotion these days? I assume they get the same cut of the house as they would otherwise, and there's no PPV revenue anymore, so they're not getting less money that way. It's just a matter of if they wrestle before or after the fireworks go off.

There is a small amount of PPV revenue, weirdly enough. And usually the pre-show is also offered for free in places.
Otherwise, this is right - the distinction between "pre-show" and "PPV" is a totally arbitrary distinction that only exists because of legacy systems and thought processes. It's all on the Network, it's all the same show.
Here's another way to take this news:
BEFORE ~1.5 hours of taking before the wrestling-like action ~4.5 hours of wrestling-like action
AFTER ~1 hour of taking before the wrestling-like action ~5 hours of wrestling-like action (and less chance of the matches you like being cut on time)
Even though this is for stuff we could do without -- concerts and hilarious cameo skits -- and maybe stuff we could do with (a Rock or Rollins post-main event appearance), it's for the best. They're incapable of timing out the show, so better to be safe than sorry. And now the ladder match can be one of those 25 minute main event wars they do at MITBPPV as opposed to the 15 minute spot sprints they were on Wrestlemania, giving the overqualified cast more room to do more substantial stuff.
The one other thing is that the battle royal is now less of a venue for Itami to debut and win or Sheamus to return and win. That'd be weird if after all those videos, the Celtic Warrior waltzed out with a purpose at 6:05 p.m. EST.

It's a shameful thing, but Sheamus is no stranger to being bumped to the Mania pre-show...
