Zack got HOSED. I thought he would have made a great Sportscenter anchor. He would have brought something a little different to the table. I guess his "warm urine" comment did him in.
Just thank God Aaron Levine did nto win. I think he would be alright on ESPN News or something, but to me he didn't exactly have that Sportscenter personality.
Mike was my second choice behind Zack. I think he will do a pretty good job. I just would have rather had Zack.
All in all I liked this show a lot though. I hope they bring it back for another run next season.
WIENER OF THE DAY! July 6, 2002!
Wienerville Survivor League Co-Champion If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.
Since the winner is probably going to be shuttled to OVWNews after the first month anyway, I think Aaron would've been fine.
They were getting 2 to 3 times the ratings as Sunday Night Hockey, so it's not as much a matter of "will it be back", it'll be what changes they'll make to it.
So many of the guys are going to get jobs for the novelty of it (which won't happen with the next season), so I think Zach's gonna be fine. If there as a sports show on Comedy Central, he'd be good for it. He'll probably be doing Mayne-ish feature pieces for someone within a month.

I disagree. His screaming NBA Finals Total Recall was the worst of the four, and as much as I hate to admit it, Zach's biggest mistake was doing the feature pack. Even though it did set him apart, it could get you typecasted, and it did here.
I thought Aaron got screwed in some ways, only because he:
A) Had to read with Linda Cohn.
B) Had a tougher ad-lib challenge in Atlanta and St. Louis. Mike had a golden opportunity with NY/Boston, and he capitalized.
At the same time, however, Mike getting Ice Skating a sport? as a PTI subject blew, AND he got hammered in Across the Board.
Overall, though, I loved the show -- but I don't want it back. One guy -- great. At the same time, if I'm busting my ass as a stringer to get to the ESPN level someday, then more than one is going to kill credibility.
I thought Aaron got screwed most of all in his interview. Carmelo completely sucked. I agree with you about Cohn, though, she made way too many referances to the contest instead of treating it like a regular show, like Ravech did.
In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

I know Dan was not happy about having to work with him on Sportscenter tonight
For three hours! I thought Hardcore Holly got a ESPNradio show a while there.
He did have valid points (I bought the arguement more this time than I did with Tough Enough, oddly enough), and he didn't let any of the annoyance - which is likely more towards managment for doing this in the first place - carry over on air.

I buy it this time more too, and he did seem to genuinely want the kid to do well, it seemed more like the skepticism that's brought forth every time someone new comes in. He seemed to have legitimate concerns for the kid too. He (Hall) has to work through everything on a very national scale, even if he's doing ESPNNews for a while. Every other anchor coming through there has the benefit of working through some kinks on a much less scrutinized level.

If it weren't for the ESPN management, Mike Hall would not be there in the first place.
Don't hate the Mike Hall -- hate ESPN. Besides, I'm surprised no one's discussing that ESPN hired someone from Road Rules to host a morning show on the Deuce.
SA obviously fails to note the great humor that can come from drunken blogging. It's fun for the whole family, next time you're smashed, go onto LJ and just ramble for 10-15 minutes before you pass out. The results are likely to be a hoot.
