Wow what the heck have my beloved Cincinnati Reds been on? It must be the antidote for Griffey. Seattle took it 3 years ago and then again when A-Rod left. Yes folks its more potent than Trip's Roid Rage in a Bottle. Step right up and grab a bottle.

There is only one way to keep it up. Trade Kenneth Griffey for a front line starter. Steinbrenner would nut himself to get Griffey and we would be happy to take an El Duke and solid reliever off his hands.

Ted Turner would love to see Junior in a Braves uniform. Bring it we say, just bring us Tom Glavine and young one like Damian Ross. Then we could talk NL Central Title and maybe a World Series appearance.

But alas...these are only dreams because one day the Reds, like Kordell Stewart did in the AFC Championship, will wake up and realize that they suck and go back to what they know best.

Losing.

Dude, as an Indians fan in Columbus it pains me to see the Reds gain top heading in stories. It really, really does.

Hey! Columbus area here too!!! Alas, I'm an evil Yankee fan! Boooo!
Anyhoo - amazing how Columbus has lept right over to the Reds badwagon, ain't it? What will they do when the Reds turn back into pumpkins and the Indians still struggle?

I can't wait to see.

They Reds getting El Duke seems more probable then glavine ever trading uniforms. But i really dont see Griffey going anywhere yet.

At the beginning of this season, El Duque wasn't even guaranteed a spot in the Yankees rotation. Griffey is worth more than that. I'm not saying El Duque's bad, I'm just saying Griffey is up there with the best players of today, or at least should be.

And nice sig, Ed.

Rumor has it the Reds are still looking at the "retired" Jeff Shaw. Isn't Graves pitching great so far? Why would they want to pay closer's money for a setup man? And I agree that they need a front line starter, badly. Who is the ace right now? Dessens? Rijo? Cripes.

I know that Griffey is Griffey, but it's gonna be hard to get much for a guy that can't make it through a season anymore.

You gotta love Gillick though. Griffey took all his leverage away from him when he said he would only go to Cincy, only to have Gillick make out like a bandit. Pokey who?

First of all I have no clue why we would get Jeff Shaw. The Reds have- statistically- the best bullpen in the majors. Why mess that up? Jose Rijo lightning does not strike twice you know.

As for an ace, I guess Dessens is the closest thing to consistent you can get. Rijo has pitched great, but I would like him to make a few more starts before before I designate him "ace."

I bet Jim Bowden is trying to figure out how to build a time machine so he can go back and undo the Griffey trade and resign Bret Boone. Can you imagine how great the Reds lineup would be with Aaron Boone, Sean Casey, Austin Kearns, Bret Boone, Mike Cameron, Juan Encarcion, Barry Larkin, and Jason LaRue? Oh look who is pinch hitting...Adam Dunn. DOH!

But much like my desire for my main man Pete Rose to be in hall-it shall never be (hangs head shedding a tear for Pete).

PalpatineW - Thanks, brah! I'm all about Johnny Friggin' Cash!!

I really like how the Mariners "fans" {snicker - Flavor of the month! Flavor of the month!} are all over the Reds for the Griffey trade as if they knew all along that Jr. would get hurt. Woofing justice is a bitch M's fans. That's all I've gotta say.

Anyhoo -- as far the Reds go, I don't understand Bowden's infatuation with Shaw. The pen's fine - for now. Besides, if Shaw REALLY wants to play again, offer him the minimum or nothing. Jeez, he's backed himself into a corner in those negotiations. Why fart around with real money?

And the Reds problem is the starters, anyway. Elmer is passable at best and Rijo is...Umm...just SLIGHTLY older than a Bronx little leaguer. I would assume that if the Reds are in it through July they'll have to make a deal for a starter...or two...or three.

And I didn't think any Reds fan wanted Bret Boone back to make his outs. Aside from his lucky year last year, this is still Bret Swing-For-The-Fences Boone we're talking about. I'm no Reds fan and even IIIIIII got tired of seeing him GIDP or K with runners in scoring position.

Your Mileage May Vary

Shaw would be back as a setup man. Danny Graves would remain firmly entrenched in the closer role. After all; fear the mullet.
