| #3 Posted on 12.2.02 1218.29 | Was Pearl Harbor a remake? I think I also deftly avoided every movie on this list - though I won't lie to myself, as I know I'll see "Crocodile Dundee in LA" at some point. I mean, he's from Australia...but he's in LA! Ha ha, and things are different there, so he's going to react in a way that no one could expect! Even though he's been in America in the other movies.
I did see Ghosts of Mars. Excuse me, "John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars", that is. That was pretty bad, even by John Carpenter bad-is-good standards. | Super Shane Spear

| #4 Posted on 12.2.02 1255.57 | Yes. Pearl Harbor was a remake of Armageddeon, just as that was a remake of Con Air and The Rock and blah blah blah.
I liked Hardball though. Freddie Prinze Jr should've been nominated for SUMMER CATCH instead. | Net Hack Slasher

I do like the idea triple S had with Freddie Prinze is way worse the Keanu, Keanu gets picked on a lot he's not that bad. | odessasteps

By the way, what were the Criterion people thinking by making a special edition of the Rock???

Pearl Harbor might have been self-important and overblown, but I don't think it is no where near the WORST movie of the year.

| #10 Posted on 13.2.02 1320.46 | Okay, they really need to back off 3000 Miles to Graceland. That movie was GOLD! Everything Kevin Costner did in that movie was wonderful, and yeah while Courtney Cox sucked a lot, Kurt Russel wasn't all that bad either. While not a great film, it was definately fun to watch. If it wins any of those awards (besides the Worst Supporting Actress) I'm gonna be pissed.

Well, people come down on it for the love story aspect. But I think a movie of JUST a bomb scene would be pretty bad. So they made it into something the viewers could grab onto.
The story was ok, but I thought it was well thought out. The main scenes were amazingly well done, and it left me feeling very somber/proud, which is what I would assume was to be the point.

| #14 Posted on 14.2.02 0029.14 | I dunno, I just thought the whole love-triangle thing was just so crass. I mean, I go to see a three hour movie, and they set it around Pearl Harbor, and they just threw in this tacky bit of Soap-Opera (or wrestling) storyline. So instead of evoking emotions about Pearl Harbor, and Operation Doolittle, I just sat there thinking how much I hated the main characters.

When they make a movie about 9/11 I'm sure the first one will be good (ala 'A Night to Remember), when they remake it forty years later I'm sure it will be horrible (Titanic). | Ike

| #15 Posted on 14.2.02 0205.17 | I remember reading a quote that went something like this...
The first foreign attack on American soil and the entry of the United States into the second world war was not considered strong enough to carry the story. Instead they made a movie about Ben Afleck trying to get laid.
If you're thinking about watching Pearl Harbor may I suggest Tora! Tora! Tora! instead?
Oh, and Ghosts of Mars needs more nominations here. It was inconcievably bad. Not "Wing Commander" bad, but damn close. | Super Shane Spear

But wasn't Sly Stallons the MAIN actor in Driven?

| #17 Posted on 19.2.02 1629.34 | Working at Blockbuster gets me all the free rentals i can handle so sadly i've seen all the worst picture nominations except Glitter. I was very happy to see Pearl Harbor on the list though. I've argued about how horrible I thought it was many times. I still think Driven is the worst movie on this list, but it's good to see that a whole lot of people hated Peral Harbor.
