The '72 Dolphins can pop the corks again, as the Eagles were just dismantled 27-3 by the Steelers. In a game where they were without their feature back, I'd have to say that the Steelers pretty much answered any questions there were about them being a legitimate team.

The Steelers are on a roll. Roethlisberger doesn't have to do much, because of that Offensive Line, but when they ask him to do anything, he's amazing. Those 3rd down conversions killed the Eagles today, as they've given up a ton of rushing yards before, and won. Of course, that's because they've held teams on 3rd and 7+.

Big letdown for me as an Eagles fan firmly living in Steelers territory. Oh, sure, you can say that there are Eagles fans in State College, but the sheer dominance of the Steelers around here means I'm laying low (but, really, I'm not an obnoxious fan). I turned it off after the 2nd quarter and watched TVLand's "Hunter" marathon, flipping back and forth.

Of course, the Eagles haven't played a good game since Carolina, looking very lethargic against both the Browns and the Ravens, with T.O. being the only bright spot. It's not a total disaster, but they need to come back huge next Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the Patriots playing Troy Brown and some guy they found out in front of the stadium in their secondary, there's no doubt in my mind that right now the Steelers are the best team in football. I'd say the Pats are second, but right now Pittsburgh could beat anyone.

As a Ravens fan, this Steelers team has become very, very frightening.

Steelers have taken a page from the New England playbook recently: The NFL is a much easier league to win in if you play with the lead. Last second come from behind victories might be spectacular, but ho-hum 2 touchdown leads in the first half allow a team to do whatever they want on defense and allows the running game and play action game to be used easily (unless of course, you are the Giants, but that's a different rant). Even with the 7-1 start though, the Steelers probably will need minimum 6-2 finish to ensure home field throughout.
And, for my favorite news organization, CBS: Unless someone has detonated a nuclear device, do not interrupt NFL games while in progress. That is what halftime is for, or, a radical idea, just provide the information during a commercial break. Do not take viewers away from kickoffs.

And what about the Bus? He ran like he was fresh outta college. That's what is gonna keep the Steelers in this is the run game ... a healthy Staley combined with the Bus might be the best 1-2 combo in the league.

But that O-Line made some holes that even I could run through.

But what about Mr. XFL Tommy Maddox! He'll get his job back when he comes back right, Right! I didn't think so.

(Oh RSN, don't remind me of the NY Ain'ts. Those guys just went to sleep after getting 2 TD early, but like you said that's another rant all together)

I think the O-Line would be the deciding factor there. Put Duce and Bettis behind the Carolina O-Line and see how fast they can rack up the negative numbers. *sigh* Davis/Foster was the best combo in the league.

Here I was, worried about all the games being played between 12 midnight and 8am local time. Would I pussy out and forget the Beautiful Game? Or would I pussy out by relying on a heady mixture of coffee and amphetamines to get me through?
