In case anyone is counting, add me to the list of now unemployed weiners.

So much for needing to worry about using dial-up mode at work...

Welcome to the club. I just keep hoping for that grad school acceptance letter so that I can go back to telling people I am a student instead of a bum ;)

You people aren't getting fired for reading this site at work, right? I'm just making sure...

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

No Guru....at least I know I didn't. My position got merged with another position, and I was the unlucky bastard merged out. Though I admit sometimes when I should be job hunting I drift back here.

As the previous starter of the "I'm laid off" thread, I feel for you Mr. Burkett. But as you noted in the video game thread, this will give both of us a chance to play Zelda: Wind Waker A LOT in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the sentiments. Lets hope we all find work soon.

I'll be happier next week when all my stuff will be with me and I'll have Wind Waker to play.

As for the reason I got cut, I can't say it was because I was looking at the site (I asked them and they said that while they do keep a record of all sites viewed, they don't actively look over them, so according to that I was okay), but it was because business was slow enough that I could look at the site. If we had more work coming in to keep me busy, then, well, I wouldn't be sitting home right now.

If tradition is proven correct, your post count should SKYROCKET due to your present situation.

Hopefully, though, you land on your feet and find a better, higher-paying job complete with bags of money and free hookers.

Well, maybe not the free hookers...

Narrowly avoided being fired about a year ago- I was working as a Travel Agent, and after 9-11, I saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. Took a serious pay cut (initial) jumping to a new field, but I am now glad I did. Seeing everyone I worked with suddenly lose their job due to cutbacks sucks...

I was working for a total shit job. I got to travel at times, and tell people they were fired. It was nice to travel, but after my first death threat and finding out the guy had stole over 40k in merchandise, something told me to get a new job.

I'm doing AOL Tech support which is eazy as shit. It's AOL, I fucking despise AOL. ANYONE can use it, so we get morons calling in wanthing to know why they can't get the disk to load when they put it in thier system*(See below. cool story!) If there is a call center in your area, I highly suggest anyone looking into it, cause they are ALWAYS hiring. They'll hire ANYONE, we got some complete fuckheads working here.

My bad, I forgot the story...

This woman calls in asking why she cant get onto the internet. She got the disk from Target and she popped it into her 'system' when she got home cause her grandkids were telling her she needed to get on the internet. 40 minutes later, I discovered the problem... (I SHIT YOU NOT!!!) She didn't have a computer! She was putting the AOL disc in the DVD player she got for christmas.

People, you can NOT make shit like this up, I'm telling you.

See below what exactly?

And what type of pay does this AOL job dish out? Cuz I can't say it doesn't sound a bit intriguing.

I just added the story, I forgot about it while I was taking a call.

Down here in Florida, they started me at $10 an hour for the first 2 weeks then I'm being bumped up to $14 starting this comming Monday. I'm sure it will be slightly higher or lower wherever you are at depending on cost of living and what not.
