RAW Acquisitions:

Shelton Benjamin
Nidia
Rhyno
Tajiri
Edge
Paul Heyman

SmackDown Acquisitions:

Rene Dupree
Mark Jindrak
Triple H
Rob Van Dam
Theodore Long
Spike Dudley

Any opinions? Obviously, it's very interesting to have Triple H on SmackDown, and Rob Van Dam... and how about Spike Dudley joining the Cruiserweight Division?

RAW's draft was clearly weaker, but they managed to pry Edge away, anyway... and how about the end of the Paul Heyman's SmackDown era?

Interesting that no champions were drafted, but if you ask me that's a good thing.

Thoughts?

I don't think that the Raw brand's pics were necessairly weak..I just enjoy their new guys..possible create some new stars.

The really thing I'm curious about is where does Evolution go now? Flair become the figurehead?

Well, we should have seen Spike going when he actually made it to the ring for a singles match for the first time in months.
As for the draft, it basically was Benjamin/Edge for Trip/RVD, as the rest is just B-Show filler at the moment.

Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.

the rumor is that Stephanie will be the new GM of Smackdown(again...) so do you think HHH was drafted to Smackdown so he can spend more time with wifey? If they were on opposite shows, there would be shedule conflicts, etc...

For all I care, Raw could have gotten Bradshaw, Holly, Rikishi, Scotty, A-Train, and Gunn, and they still would come out of this draft stronger with the loss of Triple H.

Considering I work on some Thursdays and have always religiously watched Raw, I was rooting for Raw to get some good picks and drop some dead weight. I must say, I'm thrilled. The loss of Triple H (~~~!!!) is a definite positive, not to mention the addition of Edge and a favorite of mine, Benjamin. Also, they lost Triple H. RVD was the only one worth anything that Raw lost, but his act was getting a tad boring considering the Raw show is just not for him. He'll be better off on Smackdown.

STATEMENT FROM MR. MCMAHON
Earlier tonight, Paul Heyman - the former General Manager of SmackDown! - was drafted by RAW and subsequently quit. Therefore, due to the absence of a GM on SmackDown!, I have extended the trading deadline to 9 p.m. ET Tuesday, at which time a new GM of SmackDown! will be announced, and that new GM of SmackDown! will in fact announce all trades. Thank you.

Urh. I wonder who it can be. So the show is over and we have to wait 24 hours to figure out the final roster still. Can they do anything right? The way they are promoting TRADES, TRADES, TRADES. Do not be surprised if something fishy happens, I'd bet dollars to donuts that HHH will be traded back to Raw and we continue with his never ending feud with HBK and the title Benoit is borrowing.

If the roster stays as is now, it's not THAT bad but I doubt it will

Dupree to Smackdown: Not bad for a start. Getting him into singles should give him more opportunity to stand out than in a tag team. I halfway expect he'll be fed to Taker within a couple weeks, though.

Benjamin to Raw: I'm looking forward to Shelton against Booker and Jericho. Good call.

Jindrak to Smackdown: I have no real opinion either way on Jindrak. I hope he makes something out of it, but he's probably slated for Velocity.

Nidia to Raw: Well, let's see how much she's improved in OVW in-ring. Good call.

HHH to Smackdown: This is a good thing. Benoit is safe from HHH wanting "his" belt back and Eddie is over enough that they'll continue to run with him for the foreseeable future.

Rhyno to Raw: Don't like this one. I don't think he's so damaged that he couldn't be an upper-midcard heel with some good booking and Smackdown needs all the heels they can get at this point.

RVD to Smackdown: So far, so good. Now just turn him heel and a frog splash feud could make a nice summer program.

Taijiri to Raw: I don't know, he fits with the cruisers, but I suppose he's got a potential short-term program with Hurricane. Beyond that, I have no idea what he's going to be doing.

Long to Smackdown: I have no idea what they're going to do with him here. I suppose it's a change of pace.

Edge to Raw: Just in time to miss HHH going away. I wonder if HHH changed his mind or if he was overruled.

Spike to Smackdown: Gives him something to do with the cruisers, I guess.

Heyman to Raw: Welcome back Steph... *cringe* With her back on the road, putting HHH on her show makes sense.

In general, the tag ranks have been further destroyed, so until we find out about the late trades, they're pretty much left with Evolution, Dudleys and La Resistance v3.0 on Raw and Rikishi/Scotty, Bashams and Akio/Sakoda on Smackdown.

Kane not wanting to be on the same show as Taker hints at a late trade, but as they mentioned, without Heyman, who's going to perform Smackdown's trades?

Overall, they did a decent job with keeping the cores of each show intact. The only thing I would have liked to see is trade Tazz for Lawler to freshen up both announce teams.

Seems like RAW got the raw end of the deal (pun intended), with 2/6 being non wrestlers.

I guess Nidia wrestles one in a blue moon, but not with reguarity.

I kinda think that they should have each gotten one more person, say Hurricane to Smackdown and one of the Basham brothers to RAW, so that each side gets a nice selection of contributing members.

- It's really a shame to see TWGTT broken up so early.

- I'm surprised to see Spike switch shows with a possible ECW revival on it's way.

- What? No friggin' Shannon Moore to Raw?

- I think it's become pretty clear who Raw cannot live without at this point and time, and that person is ... Uncle Eric Bishoff. Does he have his roll nailed down or what?

- Hopefully a few trades straighten things out a little more. It wasn't a bad draft, but I don't see it helping as many guys as I thought that it would.

Nothing is set in stone after television ended tonight, but I think this "trade deadline" is just wiggleroom for Vince and the writers to step back, take a look a look at where are the pieces are sitting on the board, and make a few last-minute tweaks if they feel they need to. I don't expect any major changes to follow.

I could be wrong, and the whole GM situation could result in some aftershocks.

Shelton Benjamin-- On one hand I'm excited to see a singles run with him. On the other hand, I HATE to see WGTT broken up, as they were the greatest thing for the tag division in a LOOONG time.

Nidia-- Eh. Adds nothing to the Women's division, but she wasn't exactly lighting SmackDown on fire either.

Rhyno-- For some reason, I think he'll fit well on RAW. Not sure if it'll make too much of a difference in the long run, though.

Tajiri-- I'm not too thrilled about this one. I see him amounting to nothing more than a jobber on RAW, which is sad because the guy is full of talent.

Edge-- This seemed to be the start of a big singles push. They need new stars, and Edge ain't a bad guy to be pushing.

Paul Heyman-- Well, I guess he's gone. I wonder what bad actress with a shrill voice and out-of-proportion boobs they'll get to replace him with?

Rene Dupree-- I REALLY think this guy could be a star, and getting him away from La Resistance is the first step.

Mark Jindrak-- I don't see how this benefits him, and ESPECIALLY Garrison Cade. I think Vince has a soft-spot for Mr. Jindrak, though, so this could signal a push. Poor Cade got left out in the cold, though.

Triple H-- I don't see him sticking around on the show. I have a feeling he'll be traded tomorrow. I guess I'll have to wait until after the SmackDown tapings tomorrow to make a comment.

Rob Van Dam-- He was going nowhere but down on RAW. A move to SmackDown should benefit him (especially if Paul Heyman still has any kind of hand in the booking on the show).

Theodore Long-- So, who's he gonna' manage? Orlando Jordan? I LOVE Long, but don't know where this is going. I'll hold my comments until after tomorrow, like with Hunter.

Spike Dudley-- POOR Spike got completely buried on RAW tonight. I'm really starting to feel sorry for the poor guy. Maybe this could get him into the Cruiserweight division, although I doubt he'll accomplish much in it. Kind of a throw-away pick.

I'll take 3 weeks!

I've wondered this before. Isn't Stephanie like a writer and pretty much in charge other than Vince himself? So wouldn't they go to all of the televised shows so they could run things. I know back when Raw was here during Steph's last GM run her and Vince were there even though they did not play a part on the show that night. So I always just figured they went to every show meaning that Steph and Triple H wouldn't be apart.

I don't think Raw got a bad deal. They got Edge who could be feuding for the title this year, Shelton a good upper midcarder and Tajiri and Rhyno two solid mid card fillers. Really I think Smackdown got hosed getting Long and Spike when they could use some lower to mid card help like Hurricane or Storm.

As for what Long is going to do. I know that Orlando is the only black guy but he doesn't HAVE to manage a black guy, they could change his gimmick and I think they should. The whole thing is getting pretty tired.

With such an emphasis on the fact that ANYBODY could be picked in the lottery i was just waiting for one of them to pick one of the other roster's referees or something.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Haas traded for Cade straight up to give RAW a dominant heel tag team that isn't Flair/Batista and to give Jindrak his partner back.

Someone up there must REALLY hate tag team wrestling. In the last 7 days, we've had TWGTT, Cadedrak, and the APA all broken up. But hey, we've got those awesome thrown-together teams like Rikishi & Scotty and Booker T & R...oh wait. What does it say about the state of the WWE's tag teams when the most solid teams are the stale Dudleyz, the boring Bashams, and La Resistance Version 2.0 (Conway, Grenier, and Fifi the Poodle! YIKES!)?

Does anyone realize that now Triple H & Undertaker are on the same show? How bummed out must THAT locker room be right about now?

We all knew Orton would be poised to take the reigns of Evolution someday, but I didn't think that day would come so soon. But I see good potential in this, as we could very well see an Orton/Edge feud over the spring...or even an Orton/Flair feud. (Seconding Hunter is one thing, but would Flair ever reduce himself to playing valet to Randy freakin Orton?)

The obvious pairing I see for Smackdown is Theodore Long and Orlando Jordan. On another note, could you imagine Rodney Mack coming to Smackdown? A...dream...tag team...eh?

I'm excited about RVD and Smackdown, but this tips the Smackdown face scale with Guerrero, Cena, Undertaker, and now RVD. Time to turn Cena again?

Can't see Spike doing much on Smackdown. Spike/Mysterio matches would be clashes in styles to say the least.

Overall, tihs is a disappointing draft. At least most of the roster is intact, but I would have loved to see Matt Hardy beg to get back on the Smackdown roster, where he at least experienced SOME success.

The major problem with RVD's move, if it sticks, is that it seems pretty impossible to turn him, Eddie or Cena heel, since no one's going to boo them. They could've moved Booker T over and turned him instead if they planned to move one of them and keep them on SD.

I don't think moving him back to the cruiserweight division does anything for him and he did absolutely nothing between dropping the cruiser belt to Mysterio and losing to Zach Gowen. I think he sees himself as the Benoit/Jericho/Eddie type of smallish guy that can work with the big guys and that's potentially a far better situation for him.

FBI, baby! Tag title reign by the time summer rolls around.

And don't forget Venis/Storm on Raw, even though the bookers have. And Helms/Rosey.

The problem w/ RVD to SD is that HHH is now on the show, too. The point of moving RVD to SD would be to get him out from under HHH's shadow. Until that happens, RVD won't get any serious push.

And I'm disappointed that Haas & Benjamin are now on different shows. They had to split them up eventually, but I would have liked to see them feud. The match on SD would have been a good foundation to work a feud.

And HHH and Taker on the same show? Good lord.

Amen to that brother. The signs are all there. The SD locker room disobeyed Heyman and he was not pleased. He then quits after Bischoff picked him in the draft lottery. I haven't seen the show but I read here that Heyman said something about ECW to Vince.

But more importantly, look at the drafted superstars. You've got RVD,Rhyno,Tajiri and Spike who all have strong ECW connections. The possibility for an angle where these guys are upset with being moved, so they go off and join Heyman's NewECW is very good.

I also heard that the WWE has bagged the domain name www.newecw.com.

If these aren't signs of an impending return for ECW then I don't know what are.

Ditto that...it's really sad to see a guy like Spike go out there, bust his ass, nearly kill himself day in and day out, give it his all and put his heart into the business...only to become the butt of everyone's jokes and be made to look like a total loser at every available oppourtunity. Hopefully he can find a place in the new ECW rather than being Barry Horrowitz 3000 on Smackdown.
