Mr. Calloway

Thank you. For not hogging camera time. For not cutting the longest and dullest promos on the roster. For not believing in your own hype. For realizing that you are NOT really "The Undertaker." Thank you.

A great deal of people have criticized you for holding younger competitors down. And some of that criticism is justified. You dont like putting guys over. You couldnt sell child porn in West Hollywood. And your antics regarding Brock Lesnar last year were shameful.

But in the end, you put Lesnar over. And since you came back from hiatus, youve been working with mid-carders like A-Train, Nathan Jones and the Full Blooded Italians. And who knows, you might even wind up jobbing to John Cena. Even though you could claim to be a legit monster heel (sans steroids), you are secure enough to let the spotlight shine on others. You have become role-model for other over-the-hill performers. I hope you wont revert to your old ways.

To be fair, you were not the first veteran to hold others down, and you certainly won't be the last. And if ANYONE is entitled to get away with preserving the glass ceiling, it is you. Back when Ted Turner was buying out VKM's talent, you were the only headliner that stayed loyal to the WWF. Back when Bischoff, Hogan, and Nash (among others) were high-fiving each other about putting VKM out of business, you toiled with the lesser-known names and resurrected the promotion. Now all those guys are back to being literal members of VKM's "Kiss My Ass" club. There are plenty of others that bailed ship as well: Luger, Savage, DiBiase, Piper, Bret Hart, the list goes on and on. Even HBK tried to jump ship, but he's back where he belongs, tossing VKM's salad.

I understand you didnt turn the WWF around by yourself. The resurrection was led by WCW castoffs Austin and Foley. Assistance came from other WCW rejects like Marc Mero, Paul Leveque, and Ron Simmons. And eventually the mantle was passed to the Rock. But YOU were the WWF stalwart. The main reason those guys made it in the WWF is because WCW didnt want them. They stayed out of neccessity, but not you.

Unfortunately, one of those ex-WCW guys doesnt have your class, or maturity. He got to the top by sleeping with the boss's daughter, who is also head of the WWE creative team. Things got so ridiculous, they became obscene. When he injured HIS THIGH by DELIVERING a sledghammer shot, the creative team tried to make it look like it was worse than Theisemann's injury. How hard were you laughing during those "U2/beautiful day" promos? Did you ever think about Droz, Foley or Chris Benoit during that time? Doesnt it make you wish you had told someone when you sprained your finger delivering that chair shot back in Shreveport?

Well, some of this guy's fanboys always ask the question:

"WHAT DO YOU EXPECT HIM TO DO?????"

I expect him to follow your gracious lead.

Thanks again.

While these repeated open letters to random wrestling personalities are getting a tad repetitive, I do like the Undertaker. He's a HOSS BY GAWD, but I enjoy his work. He's lost to younger guys. Heck, he's lost to probably half the roster. And he's managed to run with one gimmick for a decade and keep things funky and fresh, and that's an accomplishment.

Eh. You lost me when you felt the need to put the obligatory HHH bash in there.

I donít really have much of a problem for the Undertaker. I just wish it was slightly less of a squash last night in his match with Rey, but thatís because Iím a huge Mysterio fan and donít want to see him kicked down to the level that Tajiriís at right now.

I just love that fact that so many people will critcize him for poor workrate and whatnot. The Undertaker is simply AWESOME when he turns it up a notch. Great psychology plus an awesome moveset. That HOSS BY GAWD!! can bust out a plancha when he wants to!

I, too like the Undertaker, and all your points were great, untill Triple H was brought into it.

I'm pretty sure most of the people on this board are smart enough to contrast this post with the Triple H one on it's (and Calloway's) own merits, and draw their own conclusions without actually mentioning him.

Whatever, though. Undertaker is cool, and he makes other people in his age range (coughhogancough) look like shit.

I do think that when he finally goes down at Maniar, he should job to Kane. That would be the perfect end to a kick-ass career.

Undertaker had one of the best "if you blinked you missed it" moments in the last year or two. It was a fued with Austin and the "What?" chant was used by the fans at every pause, and Undertaker goes "Say What? If you sleep with your sister." and the crowd went "What?". LMAO. He had a nice fued with Jeff Hardy, to bad Jeff has his mind more on art, music, and motorcross, than wrestling. Undertaker still entertains, WWE just needs to keep him in good fueds.

I like the fact that he's working in the mid-card right now. However, he does seem out of place. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see him back in main event angles, I just have trouble seeing other wrestlers down in the middle of the pack appearing as serious threats to him in any match or angle.

Still, he's does deserve props for working with people who are well "below" him.

He's the godfather of the WWF.

Taker working w/ mid-carders and those "below him" is all well and good, but does anybody think he's jobbing clean to Cena next week? Or that he'll do any jobs for anybody in the FBI? Hell, he single-handedly beat A-Train & Big Show at WM.

Are we forgetting last year? When he *squashed* DDP? When DDP jobbed to Taker's *wife*? When he squashed O'Haire & Palumbo? When he squashed DDP & Kanyon?

For not believing in your own hype.

Why does he position himself for a win every year at WM? Heaven forbid he loses his winning streak.

Back when Ted Turner was buying out VKM's talent, you were the only headliner that stayed loyal to the WWF

He really didn't have a choice. He wouldn't have been able to bring the Undertaker gimmick with him. Without the gimmick, there was no reason to sign him, IMO.

you are secure enough to let the spotlight shine on others

Then why go over A-Train at WM? Taker was quoted as saying he thought A-Train had a bright future in the WWE. A possible future star. Then why did he feel it necessary to go over him at WM? He could have made him a star. He could have said "You know Vince, I see big things in A-Train's future. Why don't I do the job for him?"

Great company man, indeed.

Do you really think A-Train is talented enough and big enough of a future star for Undertaker to blow twelve years of history and success at Wrestlemania on him?

Didn't think so.

He might not be, but Taker was reported as saying/believing it. Going out & beating him just makes Taker look like a hypocrite. If Taker believes he can be a big star, he should put his money where his mouth is.

And who cares about 12 years of history? If Taker doesn't believe his own hype, and is "secure enough to let the spotlight shine on others", he should have no problem doing the j-o-b.

Maybe its not Undertaker who decided he would win and continue his Wrestlemania winning streak. The bookers may have felt it was better to keep the streak intact and possibly end it in his last match at Wrestlemania, where the winner would be the only person to ever defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania and could build from there.

And for those who will say Undertaker should have offered to lose at Wrestlemania, c'mon if you are told you are going to win and who is going to actually say "No, I think I should lose." While the Undertaker may have no problem losing, why would he insist on losing when he is set to win.

A couple of quick points:

"And your antics regarding Brock Lesnar last year were shameful." I'm assuming you're talking about Unforgiven, where 'Taker decided to hold down Brock by denying him a cheap win, and then putting Brock over even more significantly the next month. Real shameful.

"He got to the top by sleeping with the boss's daughter, who is also head of the WWE creative team." Trip and Steph didn't get together until late 2000, well after Hunter had become a main-eventer.

"How hard were you laughing during those "U2/beautiful day" promos?" We are talking about the same Undertaker who had at least 2 or 3 different promos hearlding his return after a mere 3 month layoff, right?

I notice you have no complaints about WM X7, where he "refused" to let HHH go over.

Also, wasn't it a damn shame how often Foley went over the Taker to make him look like a credible contender rather than a random fat guy? Summerslam '98 was just wretched, letting Austin go over rather than stealing his heat. Isn't it a shame how he effectively put MAVEN over at the Rumble a while back?

Oh, in case you missed it at 'Mania, there was help on behalf of Nathan Jones at the end of the match that enabled Taker to get the duke.

Sure, Taker has always no sold. IT IS A PART OF AND HAS BEEN A PART OF THE CHARACTER SINCE DAY ONE. It's why it took 10 guys to kill him. Yes, literally kill him. It happened. In fact, he was also buried by Terry Gordy, had his dignity stolen by Kama (in the form of an urn that turned into a rediculous chain), and was the only wrestler in HISTORY that Main Evented against "himself", all under the visage of Leslie Neilsen.

Doesn't anybody else remember all the strange booking this man has been through? Wouldn't you consider a miracle that he's even remotely over?

Excellent points Lexus. Infact it makes me rethink my own position on Taker's no-selling situation. It is his character.

I almost want to put up a spoiler alert but I think it's so fucking obvious it shouldn't be needed. See they have been building up this litle thing called a feud with Cena and Brock. They also had this thing that is known as a skit where the FBI said they would wait to pick their spot to take out UT. Cena faces Taker for a shot at Brock. Am I going to fast for you?

So while you may be technically correct about the Taker not doing the "clean" job it kind of fits the whole, you know, storyline thingie. Then again, you can just ignore all that silly angle garbage and just piss on Taker. It's the cool thing with all the kids these days. Whatever works for you.

There was no need to label it a spoiler, because I didn't spoil anything.

-Sure, Taker has always no sold. IT IS A PART OF AND HAS BEEN A PART OF THE CHARACTER SINCE DAY ONE.

It was part of his *UNDEAD* character. He is no longer booked as an "undead" character, so no-selling shouldn't come into play. If he's going to no-sell all the time, how exactly is he going to put over the new guys?

And he has sold for people. He didn't, however, sell for the incoming WCW guys, which he should have to help get them over to the WWE fans, rather than make the WCW Tag champs look like total jobbers.

Summerslam '98 was just wretched, letting Austin go over rather than stealing his heat.

Good job, Taker. He does the job for the biggest name in the fed, one of the biggest name's in wrestling history, and arguably the biggest draw in WWF/E history. Taker really didn't have much room to argue the other way.

See they have been building up this litle thing called a feud with Cena and Brock. They also had this thing that is known as a skit where the FBI said they would wait to pick their spot to take out UT. Cena faces Taker for a shot at Brock. Am I going to fast for you?

OK, I'll have to wait to see how the match plays out. If Taker dominates the whole match, no-selling everything Cena does, and only loses by interference, I wouldn't call that "putting Cena over". It'll be John Cena, "guy who got squashed by Taker and was lucky to pick up a cheap win". Not exactly a great way to build up Cena for his feud w/ he champ.

If Taker sells, and the match is evenly matched, then I'll feel a little better about the outcome, even if it won't be clean.

And I still say he won't do any jobs for any FBI members. Hell, Rikishi never jobbed to any of them, so I'm not too confident in seeing Taker do any.

Also, wasn't it a damn shame how often Foley went over the Taker to make him look like a credible contender rather than a random fat guy?
OK, props to Taker. However, I was predominantly a WCW watcher during that time. That was prior to Foley's feud w/ HHH, correct? How soon before the feud? Was this a case of building up Foley, who would then go on to build up HHH (serious question, not HHH bashing)?

My problem is all this talk about how unselfish Taker is, when he's just as guilty of trying to hold onto his spot as any other big name. Where are all the "Open Letters" to Benoit, praising him for selling for *anybody*, putting over anybody, not complaining about doing jobs, and busting his ass every match?
