I don't think they could have picked a worse place to put the one in New Haven. The 91/95 interchange was a mess already. It used to be faster for me to head home from work by jumping on 34 to get on 95. Now I drive a couple miles on back roads to avoid the mess.

I am proud that in the 3 times that my wife has dragged me down to IKEA I have spent a grand total of $0 dollars. Unfortunately I don't think thats not going to survive another trip. The wife's wish list is getting long.

Phoenix also had its first ever IKEA open on the same day as Goon's in Calgary. Don't know if Calgary also had a "first person in line contest", but they did here. A friend of mine interviewed our contest winner-to-be. I'll have to ask my friend if he stole his story spin from Goon. :-)

emma: They had a semi-similar thing here. First (I think) 100 people in get a Poang. No word on area losers camping out.

That interview made me howl. I guess there's a few cynics out there. Given the choice, though, I'd sooner wait overnight in Phoenix than Calgary in November.

"I'm actually setting the record for the longest stay in the U.S. in front of an IKEA before a grand opening."

Dare to dream, man.

The newer Ikea they've established just north of Toronto (Vaughan) is such a change from the usual madness. You can actually enter and exit from the same place, as opposed to being forced through an entire maze to get a Shprung or Ifnixt or Oog or whatever the hell they call their products and then go pay for it...

Maybe its not a big deal, because I'm not sure how Ikeas are in your particular area(s), but the previous two I've been to both had the entrance/exit at polar opposites of the universe.

A special look at all the new merchandise WWWE is offering, plus the newest acquisition by NWA T&A in the latest Inside The Ropes!!!

New Haven's isn't that bad. It helps that the showrooms are on the second floor, and that's the one with the inordinately long and winding maze. It's a little bit less on the first floor, but still windy. Entrance and exit are fairly close, though.
