Michael - sucked. Yep. Wow, an Aussie that digs playing tennis? I AM shocked. I know he's got a lot of fans, I just don't get why. His voice was all over the place and turrible.

Jason C - The eyes still freak me out. I think he's average and if he had a normal haircut he'd be gone already.

Luke - Why Queen? Like so many this year, decent voice with horrible song choice and personality. probably going home.

Robbie - Remember when New Kids On The Block wanted to come back with an older, edgier feel so they became NKOTB? That's Robbie.

Danny - this is the type of kid that's a ton of fun this early in the game. he's got a pretty good voice actually, which is unusual for that type though. He'll be entertaining for a few more weeks and then we'll get tired of him but he'll stick around way longer than anyone wants yet have no chance of winning.

David H. - Great voice. Really great voice. Corny as hell as a performer. Creeps me out with the eye movements. Solid middle of the pack candidate.

Jason Y - the other Jason. Also known as the dude that will be gone Thursday.

Chikezie - Liked him in auditions and thought he could sing well last week but it was corny. This week he was awesome. Not just in putting on a great performance, but also in nailing Simon multiple times without even trying. I don't know if he can recover from last week fully, but I hope he stays around for a long, long time.

David C. - Ok, cut some David's please or this is gonna get annoying. and start with this one please. yes he's a decent local bar version of a rocker. For Missouri. I have three problems with him. First, you're not Daughtry. Not close. Second, the hair. Dude I can see you're starting to lose some, but super gluing the rest flat to your head was not the right move. And last, why do you close your eyes and stick your chin up constantly while singing?

David A - If you don't love this kid then AI is not your thing. Go find another show. He's amazing and so far beyond everyone it's scary.

I love AI, and I hated David's performance. I'd hazard to say it was the worst cover of Imagine I've heard in a long, long time. The arangment didn't work and I'm not a big fan of his voice.

100% agree. As soon as they said he was doing John Lennon, I thought, "Please don't let it be Imagine." Horrid. IMO.

I liked David Hernandez's performance the best. That was fantastic. I also liked Chikezie (nice bit incorporating his name into the song for Simon's benefit) and though I thought David C's "All Right Now" was a little safe, I liked him, too.

And Danny Noriega cannot leave soon enough for me, but I guess he has his fans.

EDIT: Dialidol.com has up their data thus far on the guys. Words fail me.

I'm guessing you're not going to enjoy this season at all then, cause it's gonna be one long David A coronation from the looks of it.

I didn't like him at first, but his performance this week and the pimping he's getting on another CRZ-related blog has won me over.

Jason - Doobies and Moon River - he must go.

You could lose Robbie New Kid (I like that, wmatistic) without any problem.

I love David Hernandez. He needs to sing "Born to Be Alive," though.

If David Archuleta doesn't win, I will be very surprised, though both my wife and I thought he butchered a perfectly excellent song.

It sounds more like some of you just really have Imagine up on a pretty high pedastal and weren't going to like it being done no matter what. Somehow I don't think John Lennon would be so insulted over it.

David's got a great voice. May not be your style, but it's technically excellent.

I'm.....not sure why I'm defending this kid so much. I think I need to stop watching this show.

I'll join in the David bandwagon, even though I disliked his choice. I just don't feel like Imagine can be done believeably by someone that young. It feels like someone performing the song rather than inhabiting it. That said his voice is by far the best of the guys, and he's easily the favorite. In a way he's like Melinda last year, only with enough appeal in his looks to make him a viable winner.

I'm saying Jason and Robbie are gone on Thursday. Robbie is just not connecting and the judges are crushing him. Jason is just freaking boring.

I'm looking forward to the ladies tonight. As much as I like David, I think Ramiele might be as impressive to me.

Danny Noriega is this year's incredibly gay Sanjaya. And he will last a while for the entertainment value he brings.

Chikeze definitely perked up this week. Hell of a performance by him.

In case he hasn't made it clear enough, Danny is "sassy" and has "attitude." He does head bobs and finger snaps. He should have been on Project Runway.

He annoys me to no end.

I guess I'm somewhat alone in liking Jason Castro. I was fully prepared to hate him, with his stupid dreadlocks and buggy eyes, but...I've liked both of his performances, and I thought this week's was excellent. He seemed natural and cool. Maybe his style is just a little too mellow and 'groovy' for AI, but I like that kind of music.

While I didn't particularly care for that version of Imagine, it's really, really hard to deny David A.'s voice. And the crowd reaction to him was way, way more intense than it was for any of the other guys. He owns the teenage girls at this point, and that's going to make him really hard to beat.

I agree about David Cook's hair, but like his style better than, say, Robbie.

Danny actually won me over a bit this week, after I pretty much hated his Elvis thing last week. Kid's got a good voice, at least, but he's doomed if he can only sound good singing slow ballads.

Luke and Jason Y should be gone on Thursday, as they were the obvious bottom.

The first seven performances all bored me to tears except for Hernandez. The last three I thought started good and got gradually better.

Noriega annoys me but I'd rather see the bad performers go first. Yeger was the worst performance easily I thought. Robbie is an awful "rocker" so he has to go too.

I'm on board the Archuleta bandwagon as well. The kid has got talent. Did you hear his performance when he was *11*? If he doesn't win this season, the show is fixed.

I hate Danny Noriega with a burning passion. Orlando Bloom's performance of Killer Queen last night was bad, too.

The first five girls tonight were better than any of the guys last night. The last five girls were worse than any of the guys. Weird night.

My review, for what it's worth:

Carly Smithson: Singing "Crazy on You" by Heart. Her fun fact? She works at a faux authentic Irish Pub. She really toned down the snaggletoothery from last week and turned up the boob flopping. The vocals fit the song just fine, she's clearly one of the better singers, but she hasn't picked a good song for herself this year, other than when she sang "Alone" in the Hollywood round.

Syesha Mercado: Singing "Me and Mr. Jones" (aka "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul). Fun fact: She was in commercials once, and can cry like a baby. That's...annoying. Everybody claims they've never heard a woman attempt to cover this song like they all haven't been forced to listen to Amy Winehouse's cover. Her voice is all over the place, but pleasant.

Brooke White: Singing "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. Her tidbit? She went to beauty school. You don't say. It's funny, because she gets really screechy, but that's how the song is, so it all works. Brooke White is really pretty, but in a totally crazy way. It's kind of nice to see that she's not all sunshine and lollypops and golden sparklers shooting out of her eyes every week though. I'm not so sure on her guitar skillz.

Ramiele Maluby: Singing "Don't Leave Me This Way" by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. She'd like us to know that she can hula. She and Sanjaya would make some beautiful children. Her voice is just nuts, but that bang is really distracting. She promised to dance if she sang an uptempo song, but she didn't. Not really a good song choice, which hurts.

Kristy Lee Cook: Singing "You're No Good" by Betty Everett (Or Linda Ronstadt, if you'd rather). She wants you to know that she's a total tomboy, which the horse riding and MMA didn't give away. She makes kind of a run at giving herself some clevage this week. It's probably her best performance of the competition.

Amanda Overmyer: Singing "Carry on Wayward Son" by Kansas. Thrill as she tells you that her favorite thing to do is read about music! She's totally done up like Sindel from Mortal Kombat this week, and I'm done with Amanda Overmyer. Horrible, screechy vocals. The segment was saved by Randy Jackson simultaniously saying that Kansas was the wrong vibe for her because she should stick to Southern rock.

Alaina Whittaker: Singing "Hopelessly Devoted to You" by Olivia Newton John. Her unique fact is that she's totally OCD about her food. She's also really boring. She's pretty, but she's boringly pretty. And the background swallows her up, and it's funny because she looks like a floating head for a few minutes.

Alexandrea Lushington: Singing "If You Leave Me Now" by Chicago. She'd like you to know that she sang at Ground Zero. That's peppy...Why is she always dressed like an extra from Oliver? Anyway, it's not very good, and the song kind of sounds like it was going to be the alternate theme for Family Ties or something, and even she holds up at the end, like, "Uh-Oh." Still the second best name in the whole competition though.

Kady Malloy: Singing "Magic Man" by Heart. Kady's fun fact is that she likes to sing opera in the mirror. Also that she's still in this competition. Not as good as Carly's Heart impersonation, which is funny because the only reason you'll remember Kady is that she does Britney impressions. She won't even be around for '90s week where she can do it, either. For some reason, she's wearing your grandma's sweater.

A'siah Epperson: Singing "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen (as sung by Celine Dion). She was a cheerleader. That's boring. What a boring group of people this is. "I read books!" Oh boy! She totally loses her voice right in the middle of the song, and then goes way off the rails after that. Everybody's patting her on the back about it afterwards, but that was pretty bad.

Had a bit of a different take on 'Idol' tonight. It came off as a show bookended by pretty solid performances with so-so singing in the middle and a AWFUL one by someone I once thought of as a strong contender. My thoughts:

Carly: Good singing IMO, I thought she did pick a good song. It just wasn't the knockout performance people are expecting from her, but I think it's way too early to be getting that until they get into the top 10.

Syesha: She did alright, but Simon is right, it is a wrong song choice. No matter how hard she tries, it's a song about a man lusting for an affair with another man's wife and it just doesn't sound right when she's singing about it.

Brooke: I like her take on Carly Simon and could definitely see her well into the top 10.

Ramiele: She just looked off-pitch and all over the place. Not a good night for her: she's one of my 2 choices to get eliminated.

Kristy: Good performance, but I had a problem with her motioning during the song. She kept on squatting like she had to go and it distracted me a bit. I understand singers using their bodies to sell the song during the performance, but why do motions like that where it hurts and detracts from the singing instead of helping it?

Amanda: OH. MY. GOD. One of the worst acts I have ever seen in Idol history that didn't occured at the auditions. In fact, if she had auditioned with that, she never would had made it Hollywood. The hair was horrible (she looked like a rip-off of Lilly Munster), the clothes were tacky, and the song was mostly nothing but off-key screaming. She's definitely my other choice to be eliminated.

Alaina: I like her personality, but this song just didn't worked for her. It was the type of performance where you say "it's good" but then forget about it immediately.

Alexandrea: A lot of "A" names today, huh? Anyway, I loved her singing. Chicago pre-80's is really good music IMO, but she really made that song her own and it was really good.

Kady: The problem is not her singing, which I found fine, even if it was a little off-key. To me, it's her goofy act with the impressions. It may be charming at first, but it will get old very quickly. The shirt with all the buttons that looked like easter eggs didn't help her cause either.

A'siah: Yeah, she didn't finish strongly. But that still was by far the best song I heard all night. It felt strong and heartfelt, something I didn't get from the other girls most of the night.

The one thing I have to say about guys night was Chikezie rocked my face and I am now solidly behind him. I rewound my tape four times to see him point at Simon and emphatically declared, "YA KNOW MAH NAMES CHIKEEEEEZIE BABY!!!" That was so awesome.

From the girls, two observations:
1. Kristy Lee Cook, as CRZ's better half pointed out, has dead eyes. She's trying very hard to make you think she knows what sex is, and how life goes, and all that but she's really just Ayla Brown recycled.
2. Amanda Overmeyer - they are killing her on purpose. Sure, singing Kansas was a bad idea and it did suck. But who the hell is styling her hair and picking her clothes? Every night she's up there, she has an embarassed look on her face. But people aren't going to interpret it as a "I'm the rebel and I'm above this" kind of look, but as a "I'm ungrateful for this awesome opportunity and I want to go home" look. People will send her away quick.

That's....insane?

Carly - Where did that voice come from? Sure she wasn't terrible before, but she actually kept in tune for most of it. Still kinda funny lookin though.

Sayesha - I'm not one of these that really cares she changed Mrs to Mr. I mean really people. Her singing was pretty darn good, if not a bit boring. The women are off to a good start.

Brooke - Well duh on the song choice. She doesn't have the voice to win this thing but she's pretty fun anyway. Good job.

Ramiele - Too friggen cute. Whoever said she was off key is tone deaf. This wasn't the perfect song for her but she can't do slow songs every week, it would get old. No chance she's leaving yet.

Kristy - Yep, she's a country singer for sure. I appreciate her trying to show her lack of boobs. And her standing like she was stradling a horse the whole song was neat too. Pretty decent.

Amanda - Sanjaya was better.

Alaina - Slouching forward isn't working for you. Neither is singing off key. I'd stop doing both next week if I were you.

Alexandrea - Off key quite a bit. Slow songs aren't for her. She's kinda hip and good with the fast stuff but just not a great voice. Keep it up tempo and I'm all for you babe. Next week maybe.

Kady - Did she trip on the stairs? Is that why she sang like poop? I really want to like this girl but she's making it so hard.

Asia'h - Well the hair is better. The singing was ...well it was better than Amanda. Sorta.

Started off good, then went to crap in a hurry. None of these girls came anywhere close to the top three guys last night though the first five were at least decent. Someone needs to help all these chicks pick songs, other than Brooke.

Amanda and let's say Asia'h are going home.

Kim has the best take on this (like she always does).

Kady can't sing and walk down stairs at the same time.

Alaina is looking like Michael Strahan with the gap tooth look.

Amanda. Really? That's the hair you're going with at age 23? Wow. Nice choice. She was bad and should go home.

I like Brooke despite the fact that I know I shouldn't. She seems genuinely nice.

Sayesha's baby crying spooked me a little. Creepy.

Ramiele was really off this week and I think it was song choice, because she's way better than this.

My guess for elimination:

Alexandrea and Amanda for the girls.

Jason Y. and Robbie New Kid for the guys.

And Jamie - I bet Rob would be digging Danny's scene if Danny comes out wearing a cowboy hat next week!

Rock 'n Roll nurse was terrible last night. Those blond "hilites" aren't doing anything for her. They frame her face and it's hideous.
