This week we have the final 4, and they’re being coached by Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees. Tonight, the Idols will be singing twice.
Melinda kicks things off by singing “Inside and Out.” She does a solid job, but compared to her recent performances, it feels kinda boring. Paula mentioned that her vocals are great, but they’re waiting to be “wowed”. Simon called it a backing vocalist performance, and that he expects incredible.
Blake is second singing “You Should Be Dancing.” He continues to pick great songs to perform, and I personally love that he works on putting a fresh spin on them every week. He just continues to be a strong contender to win the entire thing. Randy thought it was corny. Paula, disagreed, saying while he didn’t have the best night, his uniqueness is a big help to him. Simon hated it as well.
Lakisha is next singing “Staying Alive.” She steps it up this week, and even outperforms Melinda on the first song. Out of everyone, I think she was the one who needed to breakout this week, and she definitely did. She used the power she has and belted it, and did a great job. Randy didn’t like it, saying she tried to do too much with it. Paula didn’t like the tempo slowing on it, and Simon didn’t like it as well.
Jordin follows Lakisha, and makes me wonder if she’ll be the one who gets first rave review of the night. She chose “To Love Somebody” tonight. Wow. She blew them all out of the water. Randy and Paula called it the best vocal, and Simon loved it as well.
Melinda’s second song choice is “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.” She does better than her first performance, but I still think Jordin’s performance overshadows her. This is probably the worst night she’s had, but even then, most people would kill to have a bad night like her. Randy still gives her some love for it. Paula still wants the WOW factor. Simon thinks she’s cemented her spot in the semi’s, or Top 3.
Blake’s goes with “This is Where I Came In” as his second song choice. Barry was somewhat surprised with his song choice, in a good way. He lays off the beat boxing for a good part of the first half of the song, and other than a couple of spots one in the middle and one in the end, he sings it pretty straight. Randy liked it better than the first song, but is tired of the beat boxing after every song. Paula takes up for him, and really enjoyed it compared to the first one. Simon didn’t like the song, and doesn’t think Blake had a great night tonight.
Lakisha is up again, and her second song choice is “Run to Me.” It was good, but just kinda boring. Simon said it was better than the first, but still not up to par, and said she might be vulnerable tonight, with Blake.
Jordin finishes the night off with “Woman in Love.” Wasn’t nearly as good as the first, but she’s got it made tonight. Hard to follow up a performance that she had in the first half tonight. Judges didn’t really have a whole lot to say.
Here’s how I had them (as a whole):
Jordin Lakisha Blake Melinda
Melinda will still be safe, but I think Lakisha still goes home. However, Blake needs to step it up now, or he may be next. See ya next week!

I have taken up for Blake every week (sorry, Kim), but this week he was brutal. Unbelievably brutal. Unwatchable. Unlistenable. I think his ego has taken over and he thinks he is untouchable.
Lakisha. Ugh. Just awful. Once again, she takes a mentor's advice and says "screw you, I will do what I want." Barry Gibb particularly told her she should step up to the big high note in the first chorus and she chose not to. Diva.
I will be very disappointed if Melinda or Jordin goes before these two gasbags.
CRZ had to edit my profile and close my table for me. I am a bad man.
Eh, Melinda was incredibly boring to me this week.
Blake picked bad songs I thought. First was bad performance as well, second one was ok but hard to get into because no one heard it before. Randy is a jackass. Blake has purposefully laid off the beatbox stuff time and again during this competition. He didn't do it for what three straight weeks before last week? Randy's retarded. Also Randy came at someone else for messing with a song again, yet loved what Blake did last week. Ok, dawg.
Jordin kicked everyone's ass. Yeah she just won this thing.
Lakisha - ok you're back to smoking crack again. She was horrid, by far the worst of the night. She was shrieking, off key, missing notes and picking terrible songs. It was a trainwreck and the judges were far too kind.
To steal a line I read somewhere, Jesus Take the Whale. Bye Bye Lakisha.
I hate this show, but was forced to watch last night.
Jordin dominated, no question. Blake is annoying as all hell. I kept singing "Talkin' it up, on the Barry Gibb Talk Show" throughout the whole thing. I bet I wasn't the only one.

Nope, you weren't. I sang it to my wife each time Barry was on screen. Within 30 minutes, she told me to STFU. I couldn't help myself and did it again. I was then banished to the basement for the rest of the show. It was totally worth it.
