I just got a new computer and I have a question for you guys.

The computer I just got is an AMD 64 Athlon 2800+, now when I go into my system info it says its a 1.8 gigahertz, does that sound right to you all?

Thanks guys.

I think so, yes. All the specs I'm finding on the chip says it's a 1.8 GHZ processor. He's a link: Click Here (reviews.cnet.com)

The 2600+ is based on the rating system that AMD uses to show how their processor peforms compared to an Intel processor. The AMD Athlon family of chips is more efficient clock for clock than the Intel Pentium line.

See here: http://139.95.253.213/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=86,E=0000000000177570706,K=2257,Sxi=2,Case=obj(3511) (AMD) and here http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_756_3734^3750,00.html

I prefer AMD processors for my home PCs.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

I'm not sure I really understand what you mean, Guru. Unless there's a way to take apart a DVD ROM and install it in the slot where the DVD ROM is on this laptop, I don't think I can do anything with it.
