THE FRIDAY FIVE - FIVE $5 ALBUMS (listed in the order I would be likely to buy them) Zapp & Roger - All the Greatest Hits (The W at Amazon) The Police - Every Breath You Take: The Classics Jethro Tull - Aqualung The Walkmen - You & Me Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift
FREE TRACKS OF THE DAY Soviet Connection - Theme from GTA IV Bob Dylan - Mississippi (Unreleased, Time out of Mind)
REGULAR PRICE ALBUM OF THE DAY Kraftwerk - Computerworld ($6.93)

| #3 Posted on 21.10.08 1858.08 | Instant Rating: 9.01 | I did buy it on your recommendation. I can afford to blow $1.99 on a spec purchase (can't I?) - I'll let you know what I think later.
Meantime, if you're not feeling like that much of a risktaker, here's a FREE jazz sampler from ECM. One thing I like right away about it is that these are jazz artists I've actually HEARD of!

Lucky for me! But, maybe not so lucky for CRZ and Guru because I'm guessing they would have made more off the purchase if I had ordered it last week. | #6 Posted on 21.10.08 2151.43 | Instant Rating: 9.01 | I'm listening to it right now! I was a little iffy after the first few tracks, but I liked it more as I went on, and now it's over too soon. Thumbs up! (I don't know that I'd want to pay more than $1.99 for it...but only because I'm a cheap bastard)

It's not a revolutionary album, but I think it's really good for a "first album". There's definitely some potential there.
BTW - I didn't realize that the instructions on how to provide "Amazon links" were added to FAQ. Next time, I won't require your assistance.

Now that I know how to link to Amazon, I'll try to provide those kind of links in the playlist (as available). It may take a few weeks, as right now it's just a copy and paste job.

| #9 Posted on 30.10.08 1324.45 | Instant Rating: 9.02 | I heartily endorse today's Daily Deal - its regular price of $5.99 is pretty good, but to get Curtis Mayfield's Roots (The W at Amazon) for only 99ą is almost like stealin'. Except it's totally legal! I'm picking this up when I get home tonight, for sure.

Believe it or not, SIX of the nine tracks on this album were released as singles. We owe that all to the magic fingers of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, aka FLYTE TIME PRODUCTIONS (and for "The Pleasure Principle," Monte Moir).

And five of the six went Top 5, with "Pleasure Principle" settling for #14.

| #13 Posted on 13.11.08 1352.40 | Instant Rating: 9.02 | Today's deal is Fatboy Slim's most "pop" album, You've Come a Long Way, Baby (The W at Amazon) (1998) for $1.99.
I think four tracks went mainstream from this one - "Gangster Trippin," "The Rockafella Skank" and "Praise You" were all singles and "Right Here Right Now" ended up in a lot of ads and sporting contests. Because I'm such an electronica snob, my choice cut is probably also the least popular one, "Gangster Trippin." You can get that one by itself for 89ą, so why not just pay another $1.10 and get all eleven tracks?
I skipped previous daily deals by Taylor Swift and Unk - aside from Kim being mad at me for not telling her the Unk album was $2.99, would anyone else have been interested in the ones that I don't feel any personal affinity with? I COULD post every day (when I remember) but I think we're only exposing MAYBE a hundred people at best in the however-many-hour period between the time I post it and the time it goes off sale. On one hand, there are probably people who would be interested in the stuff I'm not, and there are probably also more people who wish I'd just stop posting this info altogether. Maybe I should take it out of Music and into CRZ's World?
I'll probably keep posting the free ones here no matter what, though, because DAMN people they're free! You lose nothing but a bit of bandwidth from downloading!
