However, a closer look reveals this is based on only 10 reviews and user reviews are much less complimentary. FWIW, I saw them live when they opened for Nine Inch Nails about a year ago and they bored the absolute shit out of me.

If you like the Dead Kennedys, happy fifteenth birthday! (I was a big fan then, but my tolerance for them has slipped away a bit more each progressive year. I was also a huge fan of Jello Biafra's spoken word stuff during my "almost getting banned from the Politics forum" era, but I find him humorlessly preachy. (He did yell at me once at a lecture because my cell phone rang.)
EDIT: He called it a "smell phone" without a trace of irony. This is about when I stopped taking him seriously.

There's some really good stuff on here. Baaba Maal is one of the most important artists to come out of Senegal. Da Lata are great, as are Sidestepper. And Ernest Ranglin is awesome. If you can track down the cover of "I got plenty of nuthin" that Ranglin did with Spearhead (I believe it's on a compilation called Red Hot + Rhapsody), it's really worth your ear time.
