Alright so about a year later. WWF buying WCW ruined wrestling for good. The CW division in the WWF still sucks. Hogan is world champ again and wrestling the Undertaker at a ppv, supposedly new guys are getting elevated. The Hardyz look like they should retire. Tag team wrestling is worse than the 3 month Sullivan era of WCW. And of course, Vince McMahon blew WCW vs. WWF, the one angle no one could fuck up. Chris Benoit still hasn't come back yet. Fans think this split angle is working, but some fans also thought the Invasion angle was working too.

Now you can try to dispute or argue with my points above, but what is untrue about them? Granted some new guys like Brock Lesnar are getting elevated, but I can't think of anyone else. Of course, the idea that people are saying that WWF is finally taking the CW's serious is by just having Kidman and Tajiri wrestle a lot in some ok before the title settles back into hybernation. WWF, a company that one bragged about how they used the fresh young talent, instead of the broken down established stars seems to be eating those words now. The nWo came back and still sucked, and lost whatever momentum they had after like a month.

And despite all the criticsms I recieved that we would never see an alliance show, and how I got pissed on when I wrote about how much the invasion angle sucked early on, at least I was right. People say it's b/c I'm too pessimistic about wrestling and too much of a naysayer, but I just consider it being a realist. WWF's still doing quite well despite its crappiness and tiredness, but I think its only a matter of time. Do I still think the split angle will be an abortion like the Invasion? Maybe not, but maybe so.

You're neither a pessimist or a realist, your expectations are just too damn high. Maybe the central focus of the promotion is stupid, but that's the case 95% of the time, and there is good stuff worth watching on the other hour and a half of the show. If it bothers you that much, just watch from 20 minutes into the show until right before the main event.

And if the Booker/Goldust, Eddie/RVD, Edge/Angle, Tajiri/Kidman, Lesnar/The World stuff on the rest of the program doesn't do it for you, I think you should just suck it up and start bying stuff from Japan because the WWF is never going to fill your needs, and I can't imagine when they ever did.

If you really want to consider yourself a "realist" you may want to rethink your use of phrases like "WWF buying WCW ruined wrestling for good." Realism sort of precludes broad, unprovable statements like that.

I'm not arguing your points. Cruiserweight wrestling is almost nonexistant, the current main-event fued isn't exactly going to make a workrate geek drool on himself (at least... not in the good way), and tag team wrestling is all but dead. The Invasion angle bombed (although personally, I think it was almost guaranteed to fail because of the expectations laid upon it) and Benoit is still out.

Does that mean wrestling is doomed to wither and vanish forever? Hardly. Ratings may, or may not, drop. Things may, or may not, continue as they are. Benoit, unless he has some sort of mishap, *will* return. But either way, the current situation (most likely) won't ruin wrestling for all eternity, any more than the Rock-n-Wrestling era did.

I'm sorry, but you lost me at that point. The fans think the split angle was working, thus indicating that they like it...

...but you refute this point by noting that some fans thought the Invasion angle was working.

These are mutually exclusive?

I think vile is trying to show that just because the split seems to be working, the same was said about the Invasion angle, yet that bombed too.

I kinda wish the WWF would stop taking "Sports Entertainment" as an excuse to use the "sports" to set up the stories instead of the stories creating heat for wrestling matches. When you watch the NHL, a story is told on the ice. Someone gets a cheap shot which begs for retaliation. One team tries a certain offense or defense that gets neutralized.

Of course, there are news bites - from which I think the "Sports entertainment" is based off - that add even more heat to an encounter. Jordan vs. Kobe. A coach saying, "You hurt my best player, I will hurt yours." Phil Jackson playing head games with the refs and making Scottie Pippen feel self-conscious about himself, creating an interest in viewers to see if they ploy worked. All this "sports entertainment" is great, but what we all came to see was the sporting event, not the story. There was a small build up to the RVD/Eddie G. match. The true story was told when it was obvious that Eddie did his homework neutralizing every offensive move that everyone knows RVD will do to build momentum. That kind of domination tells a story that RVD better do his homework on Eddie, and come up with alternate offense, or set his old offense up better if he wants to avoid being neutralized once again. I kinda wish the WWF was heading towards that direction.

Sorry for the tangent. I'm just depressed. =(

If things are the same by the end of the year, I'll agree that they're in big trouble. But I keep repeating to myself, "They know this is just a quick fix, running through the last three years of WCW in three months. They have a long term plan in mind. They have to!"

BTW, the Hardys were glorified backyard wrestlers who were carried through matches by skilled workers. They've exhausted their usefulness and yeah, I think they ARE ready to retire, at least from the WWF.

Well, you think Lance Storm should be headlining PPVs, so that certainly goes to show you're not a realist.

Hey lord of the smarks, you are an idiot. Why, because I have never ever said that Lance storm should be headlining ppv's. Would I like him to someday sure? Should he be now? No. What I have said is that he should be at least be on ppv cards instead of crappy wrestlers like Hogan, Jazz, Trish, etc. Don't put words into my mouth unless you can back it up with something concrete.

"Lance Storm would save this PPV" or some paraphrase thereof certainly implies that he should be main eventing. Hey, if I'm the only one that sees this implication, than that's just me. But, judging by the fact that pretty much everyone else here is sick of your crap railing against the WW(F)E, then I'd say that you're the one that should be sticking it.

The Hardyz look like they should retire.

I'm so sick of the internet backlash against the Hardyz. I see no reason as to why the Hardyz should retire. This time last year everyone was yelling and screaming about Jeff being held down by Triple H. Now Jeff is in IC storylines and has been in two really good t.v. matches the last two weeks. Both of them are young, talented and I think that they still have a lot of shelf life left. So neither one of them is going to be "the next Shawn Michaels". Well, good for them. I hope that there never is another Shawn Michaels. There are plenty of other wrestlers that look like they should retire, Jeff and Matt should not.

Hey if the WWF can actually let the hardyz grow as wrestlers buy putting them in something other than a ladder or spotfest, all the power to them. And Lance Storm doesn't have to main event a ppv to save it. His mere presence on the IC title match on the summerslam card was enough for me. Hell even his presence as the Hurricane's tag team partner on two occassions on PPV was enough for me.

oh and by the way, what is this whole WWE. I'm not really watching WWF/WWE anymore, so what happened?

The Hardy bros are incredibly stale. Whatever magic Jeff Hardy used to have, he's lost. And frankly, he's looking rather sickly.

What the Hardyz need to do now is to take a demotion down to OVW, and learn tag team mechanics from somebody like Bobby Eaton. Replacing the no-longer-highspots with some good doubleteam work would do them a lot of good.

That's absurd. When was the last time you've seen them is a tag match that was over 4 minutes. They use all kinds of double team work as well. Why should they bust out anything new when one of them probably gets about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes of ring time a show?

OK, if youre not either watching the shows or reading Z's recaps, then why are you here? How can you complain about something you dont watch or keep up with?

You know youre old when you try to convince some kid that was born in the freakin 80's that Samus Aran could whip Lara Croft's cave dwelling ass. Honestly, has there ever been a cooler weapon in the history of video games than the Screw Attack?

Well fuck it! First I get heat for complaining about something I don't watch. "If you hate it then why do you watch it?" Well I stopped watching it. Now I get heat b/c I complain about it but don't watch it. I guess it goes back to damned if I do, damned if I don't. If I watch the product does that give me bragging rights to complain about it?

Not that I necessarily argue...

There's no "damned if you do, damned if you don't" here. People called you on your complaining about the WWE when you watched it. Now, they're calling you on complaining about it even though your'e not watching it, when in reality if you are not there's nothing to be bothered about.

Not that I've actually seen you complaining since the original posts, or even talking all that much. But so it goes.

I hope you're not counting that Eddie/Jeff match, because Jeff looked bad and bumped like Hogan in that match.

Jazz & Trish are 2 of the better women's wrestlers in the fed. They've put on some better matches than some of the guys.

That's exactly right, hardly anyone wants to hear endless, pointless complaints, whether you watch the show or not. If you think the Fed's shows are not worth watching, why do you watch? If you aren't watching, what do you have to complain about?

I don't think anybody is ever 100% satisfied with anything, but if you don't enjoy any aspect of the show, and don't expect it to ever improve, what's the point? If there is some other type of wrestling -- Japanese, Mexican, indy -- that you do enjoy, why not talk about that? And, if not, why are you here? When I ask that, I don't mean "go away", it's not my place to say that. I'm seriously curious--what do you get out of talking about a form of entertainment that you don't enjoy?
