Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... No Mussina =
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
At least no Red Sox starting pitchers made the team, thus saving innings for them. If anyone needed 4 days, hell 15 days, off it was Varitek. If this doesn't show the rest of the league hates AJ, nothing else will. Hopefully Francona will be smart and go Saunders to Santana to 7 outs from K-Rod to get through the game.
Neither one of these pitchers made the all-star game this year. But only the first one will be considered a problem he's been lucky enough to get nearly 5 runs in support of him each game to let him get double digit wins, while the other one gets barely 3 runs per start.
And that's why it sucks that John Danks is not on the all-star team. 3rd in the AL in ERA, 8th in WHIP, 11th in K/9, 4th in batter OPS, but because he has had crap luck with his team blowing amazing performances he only has 5 wins.
The NL is weird. No Cole Hamels?? Cristian freaking Guzman is on an All-Star team?? No Jon Rauch as the Nationals' rep?? Bay over Nate "Crap since April" McLouth as the Pirates' rep? Brian Wilson instead of, like, probably 10 other NL pitchers?
Halladay has better start this mother. That is all.
“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras
What I don't understand is no White Sox Pitchers. They seems to be pretty awesome. And while I am an AL hater in general and a Sox hater specifically, I don't get that.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

Clearly, the voting public must takes into account Giambi’s powerful lip fur, as it signifies great intellect, good looks, and the ability to stare down the most powerful of martial arts gurus. And while none of that may matter on the baseball diamond, it’s the most compelling reason offered for All-Star status in the history of the game."
GUILLEN is the sole Tigers representative?! Not Polanco? Not Granderson? Carlos "My Horrible Fielding/Age Necessitated the Trades That Hurt the Tigers Pitching and" Guillen?! Carlos "You Play 1st Base By Stepping on People's Feet Right?" Guillen?! Ugh. Just throw that on top of everything else and this was a baaad year for the fan vote.

I can totally handle no Mussina, even as a Yanks fan. Fan voting usually denotes the guys with the most face time make it into the game. On that note, I'm even completely shocked that Jeter made the squad as he's been not such an all star so far this year, but then again, popular players always have more of an edge than the best players.
No Johan Santana makes me grin so hard it hurts.
On that note, next year I'm starting a viral campaign to get the entire Washington Nationals voted in as the all-star team.

A wrong was Wrighted this afternoon when Soriano was booted for David.
The lack of Carlos Lee or Jose Reyes is disgusting. Same complaint as every year for me, no more manditory team player reps.
I could only catch the last hour or so of the hearings... I never thought it would be possible to destroy a tremendous 15 year career in 2 hours, but McGwire succeeded in doing so today, which is sad, cause he has always been a likable guy.
