(I still continue to be amazed that somehow, in 2018, Cody Rhodes is a major player in the wrestling landscape. With all of that said, this is shaping up to be a great event. I really hope they pull off a good experience)
Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"
Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"
Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"
Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."
I've never seen any of Cody's matches outside of WWE, or any Young Bucks match... I stick mainly in the WWE-provided bubble just because I barely even have time for paying attention to THAT.
That said, this is a success for all of wrestling. Sold out in what, half an hour? Some people elsewhere are already saying "BUT THE SCALPERS!" So? The tickets are still paid for. If half the tickets went to scalpers and the other half went to people who don't show up, and the building is empty... every ticket still sold. Every dollar was made.
And they'll make more money with this, because the Cody/Bucks/Bullet Club fans are the type who will pay for this kind of stuff. There are going to be meet and greets (Cody's DOG has one scheduled that is already getting hype), tons of merch... they'll do great with this.
CM Punk's availability will probably depend greatly on the status of his lawsuit with Chris Amann. The trial is supposed to start on Monday, but a lot of articles speculate that he's going to request that it be postponed until after the June 9th UFC fight. Depending on how long the delay is, if granted, it's entirely possible that the trial could conflict with All In. Sure, All In is on a Saturday, but it might not look good if he requests a delay due to a fight and then proceeds to pretend to fight during the trial itself. (ie. even if it doesn't interfere with the trial, it could annoy the judge, which is something you want to avoid.)
Unless something is announced before the show, I wouldn't be surprised to see the bear turn out to be Flip Gordon, ambushing Cody for not booking him.
I think those fans are going to want an CM Punk promo even more than CM Punk match, but it's not going to work out well if he's got to be cautious about what he's saying because the lawsuit is still going.
But the Bucks & Cody have made it clear they want Punk to be there and would do whatever he wants to make it happen. As has been the case since the moment he left WWE, Punk can be on any show he wants as long as he actually wants to be there. Punk doing the autograph signing the day before is a pretty good indication he wants to be involved.
The non-Bear theory with Flip is he could somehow win the NWA title before All In and backdoor his way onto the show that way.
