It sucks that he wasn't used for months on end when Sabin was out as I was hoping for a longish feud with Aries instead of a match deal. It sucks that he's leaving, but I get why he is leaving. I wonder what TNA will be doing with Sabin since Velvet says he's staying.
Originally posted by Matt TrackerI read this was happening, and I'm a little saddened that TNA wouldn't/didn't/couldn't use this guy more. To quote the bard, he has a lean and hungry look.
I always thought that he had the makings of a star - I was surprised they didn't do anything with him as a singles star while Sabin was out. I suppose they didn't want to have anything that would break up the team but it's not like they did anything when they came back.
I'm going to imagine that Sabin continues to do as much as Doug Williams (who, surprisingly, is still on the roster). I doubt that TNA would willingly get rid of him and hand the Machineguns to WWE or Ring of Honour.
I've been a huge fan of Shelley's since Papparazzi Productions skits with Nash. He's always been one of my Top 5 in TNA, and personally one of my favorite current generation wrestlers. He's all about Punk Rawk, Video Games and Wrestling how can you not dig'em? I'm really really gonna miss The Motor City Machine Guns cause Detroit needs heroes...
On the other hand a certain larger company has a lot of employees who could recommend him for a spot on the roster. If there was ever a time Kevin Nash was useful to wrestling nows the time.
Oh, and Impact Wrestling can kiss 3/5ths of my ass for not using him for the past year or so.

Considering the rumors and baseless speculation on the Internets that Shelley wanted to leave so he could join WWE, where they've been working on a cruiserweight show since, oh, forever. He's not exactly the typical high-flyer, though, so I think he'd translate very well to WWE style.
All crossables have been crossed.

Originally posted by this week's WONPatrick Martin, 29 (Alex Shelley), who is leaving TNA when his contract expires, has, according to sources close to Martin, received phone calls from WWE. Reports of him signing with WWE or even agreeing to terms are said by those sources to be premature and had nothing to do with him allowing his contract to expire. His original plans when he decided against renewing his contract with TNA were to work with New Japan in the junior heavyweight division, a deal he had been negotiating for, and maybe Dragon Gate USA. But recently, WWE did show interest. He was not expecting that to happen when he let his contract expire and we’ve had confirmations he was close to a deal with New Japan when the WWE called.
I have a schoolfriend whose real name is Alex Shelley. He's quite a foppish fellow who's into theatre and such. I'd be sad if this is the end of Patrick Martin's stagename, as it's always made me chuckle that someone would choose it as a nom de wrestling.
Recap of previous month's PPV: For the first time, there were open seats! A couple tables and booths were available. After Austin's match in the middle of the card, a good number of people left and several seats were open.
