After watching last night's Sciosia blew the game for the Angels, I can't figure out why everyone is saying he is the AL manager of the year.

The Angels had 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th and had Troy Percival (40 saves, 1.92 ERA!) - ready to enter the game. Percival is an all-time great closer and they didn't use him. Remember when the Padres had Trever Hoffman against the Yankees in the World Series, and never got to use him. Why would you not use your best pitcher? Instead they went with their no-name bullpen and got bombed. At least Joe Torre is smart enough to bring in Rivera.

Percival does have a history of injury, so you may not want to risk him pitching over an inning, especially in the first game of a series, though I probably would have brought him in.

As fars a Manager of the Year, it has to be either Scioscia or Gardenhire. They did so much more with less than anybody else.

I'd probably give it to Ron Gardenhire, but we'll see.

Well, in Scioscia's defense, the Angels pen top-to-bottom had been good all year and Donelly was a stud down the stretch for them and yeah, Percival has some arm issues.

As far as AL MOY - Scioscia or Gardenhire are nifty choices. You can't go wrong with either, in my book.

And Hoffman WAS used in the 98 Series. Brosius took him deep in Game 3.

Ron Gardenhire should be a slam dunk for AL Manager of the Year. I don't see how Mike Scioscia can even compare.

(GO M'S! 2003! FUCK THE ANGELS!)

But I'm not biased. :D

Giambi 0-5 with 5 strikeouts lifetime against Troy Percival.

You can't save your best pitcher for a time that may never arrive. You must use him when the game is on the line.
