Air America Radio files for Chapter 11

    AP Business Writer

NEW YORK (AP) -- Air America Radio filed for bankruptcy reorganization Friday, in the latest patch of turbulence to befall the liberal talk radio network that launched two years ago headlined by the comedian and author Al Franken.

The network will continue to operate with funding from its investor group, led by RealNetworks Inc. CEO Robert Glaser, who owns 36.7 percent of the company, and two other former board members.

I'm sure this format can work.

I just don't know who needs to be it's front-line air talent. Al Franken was a bad choice right off the bat.

No worries here in Los Angeles. Our affiliate is a separate entity and actually has some good homegrown talent. Having said that, though, it's a little premature to declare the idea dead. The people at the top couldn't handle the financial aspects, but the actual hosts did a wonderful job. Heck, Randi Rhodes is holding her own (if not BEATING) Rush Limbaugh in several large markets.

WWF: Mankind d. Undertaker in the first ever Buried Alive match at...WWF Buried Alive. Also, Steve Austin continued his efforts to bring Bret Hart back to the ring by turning on Brian Pillman, shattering his ankle in what to this day is known as "Pillmanizing".

WCW: Hulk Hogan d. Randy Savage in a main event no one cared about, but Roddy Piper came out immediately after to end Halloween Havoc with a bang. The Outsiders won their first WCW Tag Team titles by beating Harlem Heat.
