New Birdman, Sealab, and ATHF this week.

from ign.com:

"June 06, 2003 - In a move that will delight viewers of Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" programming block, a number of original programs produced for the block are being prepped for DVD release.

In an exclusive interview with IGN FilmForce's Ken Plume, set to run in early July, Cartoon Network executive Mike Lazzo clued us in on some details for the upcoming releases.

First up is Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, one of the first original productions for Cartoon Network. The first set for the series, which has recently returned to the Adult Swim line up, will include the first season-and-a-half of the series as well as tons of extras, including special promotional materials produced with the characters and extra on-air bits, such as a New Year's countdown and a special for the premiere of the Jim Carrey film, The Mask.

The next set due out is the more recent series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the first of the new Adult Swim programs to reach a full season of 24 episodes. Soon after, Sealab 2021 will reach the 24-episode mark, making it eligible for DVD release. Other Adult Swim series, such as the recent addition, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, and the returning Space Ghost spin-off, The Brak Show, are expected to follow as soon as they reach the 24-episode mark.

Lazzo also clued us in on some changes for the Adult Swim block, including some new series and hopes for new episodes of old favorites. Keep an eye out for our exclusive interview during the first week of July!"

I hope the Birdman DVD has commentary. Maybe they'll explain the delay of certain episodes.

Well, I might as well talk about tonight's shows.

Birdman was great, with kinetic energy and so many quick jokes that you didn't have time to think about the humor that missed.

ATHF was off the hook this week, definitely the best episode of the new episodes. More Carl= More gooder.

Sealab sucked once again. It's on a major losing streak for me, although Capt. Murphy is still a riot.

Space Ghost was hilarious, especially with the appearance of Brak. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Peter Mitchell."

The Hurricane main eventing a Raw show? See, the WWE is listening to the 'Net. Well, they're listening to me anyways. Look for the next push to go to Molly.

Birdman RULED!!! X was hilarious. The Black Vulcan cameo at the end was funny, too.

Birdman is fast becoming my favorite show on TV. Sadly, that was the last new Birdman for a while.

ATHF was also funny. Highlights included Boxy Brown and Carl's speech to Meatwad.

Of course the greatest ATHF cartoon has to be 'Return of the Moonites' where they go play skee-ball with Meatwad and win the Foreigner Belt.

Although, Ol' Drippy does come close.

"Dewey, do you take this headless super model with the six pack to be your lawfully wedded wife, so that you guys can work on the railroad together and build Super Train and drive them to Jupiter with Batman? Say I do." - Meatwad from Ol' Drippy.

Gotta go with "Dumber Dolls" as well . . .Jigglebelly alone is a what-the-fuck moment. And the Highlander stuff at the end was mindbendingly funny.

Now if they could just get the stupid aliens who cloned Master Shake to fight the Mooninites. . .

The BEST ATHF episode however is when they showed up on SGC2C. Classic rock was forever changed that day.

I'm always in the minority on Sealab - I thought it was fucking great again. I'd have shown the entire show on a black screen, myself.

They listed the episodes that are going to be in the Space Ghost DVD during the bumper before the show, but it went by far too fast for me to figure out exactly which episode is which. Anyone have clearer information?

I loved sealab this week, captain murphy cracks me up. ATHF was pretty cool, and Birdman was awesome as usual. After seeing home movies a couple weeks ago I'm ready for new episodes, as well as new Mission Hill.

Sweet. Two of my all-time fave C2C episodes.

Did anyone ever write to the show(s)? Eddie Famous and I had a coworker who had written to Cartoon Planet (and had his letter read on the air as well), and I wrote to Coast To Coast a few years back, too. 1997-ish. Surprisingly, I received a response about a month later: a photocopy of a dictionary page (featuring the definition and picture of a mantis), Space Ghost emblem, Phantom Cruiser specs (both suitable for coloring), and a photocopy of the Banjo script (all on one page, making each page roughly 1.5 inches big) and a nice little form letter from the Ghost himself. Fun stuff.

Wasn't that also, word-for-word, the list from the AS bumper? Even with the exclamation point in brackets.

And my gf gushes about the Foreigner belt... need to see that ep.

Sealab was BRILLIANT. Williams Street didn't just bring anime and cussing to Cartoon Network, they broadcast CN's first radio show!

Anyone else see the Mind Taker ref on SGC2C? "Do not call"

The only thing that saves "Sealab" from being the worst thing on AS this week was "Kikaider."

Which, to further the Sealab connexion is a whole series of "Sealabs" like this week's. . .It's been what feels like 5 hours worth of episodes, and nothing has happened. There's just no reason for this show to be on AS. Or on period.

And now, to keep the ball rolling, here's some AS news from these fine folks: Click Here (animenewsnetwork.com)

-New InuYasha starts August 4th

-Trigun gets yanked off for Reign.

-Cowboy Bebop gets yanked for Lupin

Reign? AGAIN? Jesus, WHY? I realise Peter Chung got on the "Animatrix" DVD, I guess because he had pictures of the Wachowskis with a donkey (were it not for the Square installment, Chung would handily have the worst segment on the DVD) Chung's the Big Bossman of the animation industry--he brings nothing to the table except for the trail of shit he smears around like a retarded infant.

Sorry, just needed to vent.

X-E's co-Worst Poster of all time! Jkyle.com says:

I could understand Trigun being replaced by a new series, and Bebop needs a rest but... Reign? The fuck? It has so few episodes and so few fans from what I've heard. Does this thing get huge ratings?

Waiting until August for new adventures of ol' dog ears is TORTURE.
