Pardon me as I interject myself into the so-called battle between Community and Modern Family as the best new network comedy this year and give you The Middle.
Yeah, I know that's not true (it was fun to type though). Really, it's not as far-fetched as you think. Damn if this isn't one of the funniest shows on TV right now. It's believable, good-natured, perfectly cast and really funny. Neil Flynn deserved another spot to shine post-Scrubs and he shines here. The kids really steal the show. And I'm not even talking about Brick. Axl and Sue are just plain awesome. Man, that scene with Sue circling the track to make the no-cut cross country team...so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. :-)
Oh wait, Chris Kattan is on this show too? It's easy to forget because he's never on. And really, that's OK.
I just can't get past the Patricia Heaton voice-over I hear every time I tune in to watch Modern Family and catch the end of The Middle. She just sounds so bored doing them, it doesn't get me interested in the show.

That's not Heaton, that's a very tired and frustrated mother of three. :-) Trust me, Patricia does a very good job.
I love 'The Middle'. It comes across as a funny yet warm show for the whole family to watch. Plus, while I know all the critics have said how good the kid from 'Modern Family' is, I think the one that plays Brick is actually the best one around. He plays his role so perfectly... (whispers to himself)so perfectly.
Television's best show finished off its fifth season with...a shockingly low-event, low-key episode. Not to say that "not much happened," but it was a series of character moments rather than anything monumental. Uh...
