Could Illinois' ass whoooping at the hands of USC cause a split national title scenario?

USC was #7 and beat #13. If they beat #1 like that or even #2, that would mean something, as when Miami jumped in '83 and Notre Dame jumped in '77. If you start playing the: We beat this team that beat this team that lost to this team game this year, you run around in a circle, as USC lost at home to Stanford who lost at home to Notre Dame who lost to just about everybody everywhere.

I was also on this train until I saw Georgia crush unbeaten Hawaii. I actually think Georgia looked more impressive in their win. And while that's debatable, it isn't debatable that there will be equal interest in both USC and Georgia at #1.

While I don't disagree, all the stupid voters who wouldn't rank Georgia in the top 2 (because they didn't win the conference) are the ones responsible for this.

Why exactly does that make them stupid? Who would they have removed from the top two to put Georgia in that would have made sense? An LSU team that actually won the SEC? Or an Ohio State team that won the Big 10? I'm not sure "stupid" applies here.

If you won't put Georgia in the national championship, but will vote them for a split title, that's stupid. Either they're worthy of being national champions or not.

But there's zero chance that will happen so what's the point again? The BCS poll MUST name the winner of the BCS championship game as the national champ. The other poll can name whoever they want but they had zero say in who played for the national title to begin with.

The only "stupid" people to blame are the officials at the Rose Bowl for going with "tradition" with Illinois and not "COMMON SENSE" with Georgia. We would have had a hell of a match up, instead of two blow outs.

Uh, I'm gonna direct you to Eddie Famous' post in this thread before he goes apesh!t. To sum up, it wasn't necessarily the Rose Bowl's fault that Illinois went instead of Georgia.

Quite right. There's no way the Sugar would have agreed to letting Georgia go, which would have left Rose with the option to either take Illinois or the Big 12 at-large (with Missouri & Kansas being the next available teams in line).

If the Rose had gone Big 12, this is what we would have had:

ROSE: USC v. Missouri/Kansas
ORANGE: Virginia Tech v. West Virginia
FIESTA: Oklahoma v. Arizona State
SUGAR: Georgia v. Hawaii

Far as I can see, the Sun Devils and the fans are the only ones that should be complaining.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Poor West Virginia. USC sucks ass for most of the season, then turns it on just in time to whip a suspect Arizona State team and Illinois and everyone wants to pretend the loss to 40 point underdog Stanford never happened. WV whips an actual conference champ in OU and not a word about them getting screwed.

Though they did of course kinda screw themselves today with that hire. A coach who was miserable in his only previous head coaching stint?? Granted they didn't have much choice after what White said on the mic last night, but still. I wouldn't have gone there.
