| #1 Posted on 19.3.02 1226.39 | Guys,
With all the talk about how Rock and Hogan were received at WM and how HHH shoulda gone heel, I began wondering if it was possible that someone could be so over as to make face/heel turns impossible.
It happened this time last year with Austin. He was a heel for two weeks, but kept getting cheered pretty much no matter what he did.
So, my question to you is, is it possible for someone on the level of popularity as, say Rock, Hogan, or Austin, to stay over with the fans to the point where they can't be turned with any beleivability? And even if they are briefly turned, can the turn stick?

| #3 Posted on 19.3.02 1231.12 | about the only way to turn Rock or Austin heel would be to not allow them to speak. as long as those two can spout off the catchphrases, they are going to stay too over with the fans to make a convincing turn. but could you imagine just how pissed some people would be if Rock just turned off his running at the mouth? now THAT could make an interesting heel turn... a silent Rock.

Or, have one destroy the other's voicebox, preventing him from speaking. If Austin did that to Rock, Austin would be pretty hated.
The other obvious thing to do is have Debra come out and "clean Austin up." In other words do the whole "He's married to me and I don't want him drinking or swearing or wearing those silly clothes any more." If they showed Austin WILLINGLY submit to that -- come to the ring in a more "conservative" outfit and talk properly without the slang or cursing, the fans would totally hate him.

| #7 Posted on 19.3.02 1329.57 | LOL, That's actually pretty good. I don't think anyone would love a PW'd Steve Austin. Not exactly Stunning Steve but along those lines. I thought Austin and Rock could not be effective heat-drawing heels. They tried everything and nothing worked. Even when Austin went with the Alliance and was singing and crying and hugging and all that other gay stuff. The crowd still loved him.
However, I believe the way to turn Austin or the Rock heel would be to jump a red and yellow clad Hulk Hogan. The RAW after Wrestlemania was the perfect time to turn the Rock. Had he joined up with the NWO during the tag match, that would of done the trick, temporarily anyway.

| #8 Posted on 19.3.02 1331.44 | Interesting responses. I wasn't specifically thinking of the Undertaker, but yeah, I guess he's one of the main people to benefit. Although I wonder sometimes if people cheer him because he's not dead yet more than anything.
I think the only person who ever really successfuly sustained a heel turn was HHH, and that was only because he disposed of everything from his face persona. Of course, he just ended up getting cheered for his heel character's affectations, but he was able to outlast most of the other heel turns in the main even we've seen recently.
