Does anyone know of any decent message boards other than wienerville? I'm looking to get a project of mine started up, and I could definitly use a message board that's low maitanance and simple to load on low bandwidths, but I haven't found any yet.
Hehe. Low maintenance is not how I would describe this place. Most of that is our fault for adding features, but there isn't really a working admin section to this code - you have to do almost everything in the database.
PHPBB 2.0 looks pretty. I set up a beta of it a long time ago and it had most of the features that people wanted in a board, but I didn't really like it too much. I have other friends that really like the setup though.
Supposedly, Acmlm and his Usual Gang of, well, not idiots, but petty kids (you should see all the shit going on over there in regards to staff realignment) are building a admin control panel into version 2.0, which may be released publically.
I'm not a programer, I'm a software kind of guy. I approach programing like a mouse would a cat. Seriously, I don't like it because I can't do it . Plus I'll have only the net at work, so yeah, that's why it needs to be low maitanance.
You might want to consider one of the ad-laden free message boards out there if you really don't want to get your hands dirty with a server or some PHP. Unfortunately, they all pretty much suck at this point.
I hear Delphi is OK if you pay for your account (Well, technically, you have to pay if you are a moderator or host a forum there).
I totally agree. That second one doing the double-twist ending was dope. The "loser screws up again, but this time for keeps" plot is a classic from the old twilight zone (most notably in "the librarian" with Burgess Meredith)
