I'm going to make a bold prediction and say that my Steelers got the steal of the draft in Antwaan Randle El. I think the guy is gonna be like Deion Sanders in terms of being electrifying on punts and the like. Or maybe like Jermaine Lewis.

I can definately agree with the sentiment, having seen some of Randle El's games in Indiana. That being said, he'll struggle in his first year, I figure, until he gets used to the talent level in the NFL, a new position, etc. After that, we'll see. He may not be the steal for the 2002-03 season, but he'll begin to prove his worth after that.

Not to mention the possibilities of the QB position with Slash, Ward (he was an ex-QB, right), Randle El... I'd love to see their depth chart at the QB spot. :)

I really like Randle El and I want to see him at QB, not being "Slash 2002." Hopefully somewhere soon he will be given a chance to play QB. The guy was electric from the QB spot in college, thats where he should be. Imagine how exciting a game featuring him and Micheal Vick if they both become as exciting as they were in college.

Randle El won't get much of a shot to be a full tim QB in the pros. For one, he doesn't want to be, but mostly because he lacks the arm strength a good pro QB needs. He is deadly accuarate, especially on the run, but his arm is just not that strong.

I DO think Randle El is an incredible addition and opens our offense back up do some "Slash 2002" things. We have enough weapons in Stewart, Bettis, Burress, Ward, Randle El, and a healthy Mark Bruener that opposing defensive coordinators will have to work overtime preparing for us.

I can't remember being this excited for Steelers football since 1996 or so. Its time to reclaim the throne.

Yeah Ffej, and the best part is even if they don't win it this year, they have at least three more years in which they should be the favorites woo hoo!

Randle El has been an awesome, electrifying player his whole life. I played against him in high school, and couldn't believe some of the plays he made. I hope he has a great career in the pros.

And, sadly, three more years (if Kordell is still the QB) to blow it. Tommy Maddox is warming up in the bullpen.

Randle-El played at Thornton Fractional North, right? Being in NW Indiana, we knew about him, but never got a chance to play against him.

Tommy Turnover has got to be one of the worst journeyman QB's the game has ever seen......and yes, I'm a Bronco fan...

OK, now see here. Kordell has had his problems in the past, this is true. But then again, who would you rather see. I'll give you some options.

1) A mobile quarterback who can throw decently well, has improved, and was felt well of enough by his teammates and the fans to be both a team MVP and a Pro-Bowl selection. (Kordell Stewart)

2) A guy who was the league MVP of a league without enough good players to survive, who doesn't have the discipline (in my opinion), and is comfortable in the role of backup. (Tommy Maddox)

3) A guy who struggled in NFL Europe (Tee Martin)

4) A guy who played well in the regular season, never could admit to his faults, and ALWAYS collapsed under pressure (Neil O'Donnell)

5) A has-been/never-was (Jim Miller) (My apologies to Bears fans, but he sucks)

Those are your options. I'll take Kordell.

BTW, Randle El rocked in the game on Tuesday. Unbelievable. I think he may have found his calling, especially since he has enough knowledge of quarterback to be involved in those trick plays.

I pretty much agree, I was just bursting with Patriot Pride thinking back to the AFC Championship Game when I put that in there. He still has to win a BIG game and put two good years in a row together, but last year he was definitely one of the top QBs. (Until that one game, you know...THAT one.)

I say damn O'Donnell and Kordell. The Steelers are cursed to never have a good quarterback. We have a decent quarterback, but not a good quarterback.
But in a way, I guess that's the trademark of the Steelers: a gritty team with in-your-face ass kickers.

Neil O'Donnell is a good backup,I should know.He has been good at helping out the young 3rd-string guy,Billy Volek to takeover
the 2nd string after he retires.

I like Neil O'Donnell but whenever McNair gets hurt and he comes in,I get really worried.I trust Volek more.

No, I'm praising them for it. That's what I like about the Steelers: they're not pretty boys. Skill players are not their forte.
Of course, that's also why they never win the big one, but that's also endearing in its own way. When they DO finally win the Super Bowl, I'll proudly stand with both middle fingers raised and tell the world to suck it.
But that would be a bad thing too because we would pick up a bunch of fair-day short-timin' bandwagon fans! AAAHHH the anguish!
