I heard about a possible new formation of the 4 Horsemen a few weeks back. They would debut sometime next year. The group would consist of:
Triple H - leader, flair role Ric Flair - elder statesman, blanchard role Batista - enforcer, anderson role Randy Orton - youngster, benoit role
I personally could think of alot better workers for the new Horsemen. How bout a SD! Horsemen with a possible Flair jump. I could see Angle, Benoit, Flair, and Rey Rey or Edge fitting the roles alot better.

Does anyone know more about this rumor?
Elder statesman would be JJ Dillon role, not Tully. If Tully had not been a coke head and found God he probably would have been in a major fed through the mid 90's. The youngster role would be the Luger role, not the Benoit role. Also, unless Batista gives classic promos, he can't qualify for audition into the AA role.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Either that or Pretty Paul Roma. I feel so dirty.
Please, there is no need for such reminders. Just let the Horsemen go. These writers don't have the talent to recreate the magic of Flair, Arn, Tully and Ole.

You're probably right. In theory, with good execution and writing, it could be successful. Like the NWO. But that theory just doesn't apply to the WWE because they have bombed on every Concept they've tried over the last two years.

Scary thought: These writers don't having the talent of Ole. Now, I am afraid.

I wouldn't be too confident of a modern version of the Horsemen working anywhere near as well as the original. But, if they want to give it a try, Chris Jericho would be a much better fit than HHH as the Ric Flair leader roll. Of course, I suppose they would want Ric Flair in there as the manager so HHH would be the Ric Flair connection.
Christian and Lance Storm would fit that gimmick better than any of those mentioned also. And, how about a returning Rhino or Test in the old Lex Luger roll.
Of course, now that I look at it, if you put Christian, Lance Storm, and Test in the group, you've got a repackaged version of the UnAmericans.
If HHH and Jericho can peacefully co-exist in the same group, HHH, Jericho, and Lance Storm would be a good start with a few different possibilities for the final member.
WWE has had some "idiot proof" angles in the past 2 years that they have totally screwed up. I would prefer they saved a new 4 Horsemen until they get their crap together. But it would be pretty cool to have an actual stable in the WWE again. I mean a stable that people actually respect and kick serious ass.

Vince has never been a real fan of stables for any extended length of time. He prefers his heels to be independent and self-driven, as opposed to the Southern style grouping of individually cowardly heels that become stronger and more brash as a group.
Exactly WHY do we need a return of the 4 Horseman? Thinking like that really ends up only destroying part of what was so great about the original. If you want to see the Horseman, get a tape! Otherwise... why not let just a few guys get together and form a stable, give it a new name, and see where that goes? There seems to be something of an unhealthy obsession with the 4 Horsemen on the internet- I mean, damn... every SINGLE time 4 guys get together, and look like they are about to form a "stable," people start screaming HORSEMEN!!!! Remember the whole Canadian Horsemen thing people were calling for before? I mean, damned... how about encouraging NEW ideas instead of rehashing (and thereby killing in the WWE's case) old ones?
Craig Reade "Pool Boy"Detroit Lions! 2-4! I am so confused....
We really need a new 4 Horsemen with HHH so that we can finally destroy their legacy once and for all.

The booking style of the WWE is just too different than old school NWA or WCW for the stables to work.
I think that's the main reason that the Invasion and the nWo angles didn't work out. It just doesn't fit with what the WWE has always done. The Horsemen, arguably the greatest heel stable ever, wouldn't work in the WWE either, regardless of the talent involved in the angle.

I hope we don't see another stable for a while. But I'm scared that Vince just might look to a stable to captivate the audiences again. Personally, I had slacked off of watching wrestling for a while, but when I saw DX on my tv, it was new. It was different. It had me hooked again.
As far as 4 Horsemen, I don't think he's going to resurrect another stable after the NWO debacle. He really needs to look to his roster and give them better angles to work with.
But....... if he's going to make a stable. I like Jeff Hardy, RVD, and Dreamer together, don't know why, but I do.
I'm a Horsemen mark. However, except for the Flair/Arn/Benoit/Pillman formation in '95, the last time the Horsemen were really the Horsemen was over a dozen years ago. Let it go before the Four Fingers being held up becomes a complete joke. Besides, the old Four Horsemen, Four Titles goal is now gone with all the belts unified.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
Whatever, let's just get past this murder thing by any means necessary. Kill another stable? Make another stable, bring back a stable? What the hell, go for it.
I said it before and I will say it again: they need to use Big Show in more backstage sketches. The guy is awesome in the comedy department. He has the timing and the facial expressions.
