| #1 Posted on 23.8.02 1109.55 | According to McPaper today, the new Friars stadium is 1/3 done and "on schedule" to open in 2004.
And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

| #3 Posted on 23.8.02 1206.21 | Of course the Padres new stadium will be ready for the 2004 season. Its funny though that Padre ownership has no problem with baseball being shut down for the 2003 season though. I wonder if that attitude would continue if the 2004 season and their new stadium was threatened.
Thank you Mr. Wanz for the check, now you get an AWA World Title Reign. But be careful, my boy Greg is a heat machine. | mountinman44

I'm sure he wouldn't have been so vocal about it, but if you look at how much he has dumped into the Padres (well over $100 million), $5 million extra won't kill him. If it wasn't for the damn obstructionist lawyers and NIMBY's here in San Diego, the new stadium would have been done in time for this season. I'm sure they are all waiting for the threatened strike so they can all say, "I told you so!" BASTARDS!!!

| #5 Posted on 23.8.02 1858.25 | Our ballpark was held up over 16 months due to frivolous lawsuits.
I think the park is on schedule - they wouldn't dare announce it was going to be done early if it really wasn't going to be.

| #6 Posted on 23.8.02 2137.34 | What's funny is that I've lots of complaints from people who went to Comicon that didn't know about the stadium construction and the nightmares it's causing with traffic down by the convention center. Stupid idiots.

| #8 Posted on 24.8.02 1840.57 | Well, I have never driven in SD, any of the four times I went out for the Comicon. Heck, I've never even been to the Zoo or Balboa Park. Just to the Con, the Murph to see the Friars and TJ for the lucha.
