...and oh, how the mighty fall. Sure, the Buckeyes are boring, but you've got to admit--they won where 34 teams before them failed. Since no one else seems to want to say it during the early returns, I will. The pass interference call at the end of the first OT was complete and utter bullshit. Plain and simple. Almost as laughable was Jim Tressel's reaction to the pass interference calls made on his team during the second OT. It's called, "Don't Press Your Luck," Jim; look into it sometime.
And for the record, I don't care what the NCAA says or the rules say. If you don't have possession of a pass made by the opposing team, it's not a turnover. If the player with the ball doesn't fumble it before breaking the plane of the goal line and fumble it out through the end zone, it's not a turnover. If you can't take the ball out of the player's hands, it's not a turnover.
However, I unfortunately have to concede that Miami shouldn't have been anywhere near being that affected by a horrific call by the "referee" and a stupid rule. All the signs that popped up during the regular season were there tonight: weakness against the run, turnovers caused by a mix of inconsistent throws by Dorsey and his receivers not holding on to balls thrown right at their hands, poor tackling, failure to consistently hit hard on defense, etc. Instead of the Miami that annihilated Florida, Tennessee, and Syracuse, we got the Miami that struggled against Temple and Rutgers.
It's official. Despite owning the third- or fourth-longest winning streak in NCAA history, Miami is fully mortal once again. The King is dead - long live the King. | odessasteps

What about the non-call that should have been pass interference on Miami's first INT? When the OSU receiver was mugged by one guy and the other made the pick?
What about the make-up call in the 2nd OT on Gamble?
I really don't like OSU (being an Indiana grad), but I was rooting for them tonight.
I think OSU really only won thanks to the two INTs and the injuries to McGahee and Dorsey. And the inability of the otherwise good Miami D to stop a rushing QB.

This was by far the best college football game I have ever seen, and it ranks up there with the best pro games I've ever seen. I hope Krenzel gets a chance to try something as a pro, because he reallyl ooked impressive tonight against a good defense. | Zeruel

I don't mind if people complain about the pass interference in the first OT, as long as they mention the obvious hold on Jenkins on 3rd and 6 on the Buckeyes final drive of regulation. Call the holding, first down, Miami has one time out with 1:50 left and overtime is not needed. If no PI was called in OT I'm sure many Buckeye fans, including myself, would be complaining about the no call in the fourth, or the block in the back on the punt return.
This victory hasn't sunk in yet. I root for the Buckeyes, Cavs, Indians, Titans and Browns. We never win anything big. | tomvejada

To me one of the parts that stood out of the game was the game-tying field goal that ended regulation. The Miami kicker had to wait about five minutes, while Ohio State used all of their remaining timeouts. | FLRockAndLaw

The first interception by Miami wasn't called for pass interference, IMHO, because there were two DBs around the guy. At least one of them was going for the ball. If you start calling plays like that as pass interference, you might start screwing with the whole concept of double-coverage (as well as encourage QBs to make really stupid throws). By a similar situation, the second OT interference call was because the Ohio State DB wasn't going for the ball. Pass interference is a tricky thing, but as long as you've got one arm going for the ball and are looking anyward towards the direction where the ball's coming from, they won't call it.

If not PI is called at the end of the first OT, then yes, Ohio State fans are probably complaining like I am right now. Ignoring whether or not the call was legit... the response to them would probably be similar to my own: right now, I've said that Miami shouldn't have played so poorly, and wouldn't have even been close to being affected by the call. If there was no PI, the response to Ohio State is that championship teams don't blow ten-point leads on the defending national champion in the second half.
Didn't see the injury to McGahee - was on the phone with someone oblivious to college football and in a serious crisis mode - but I hope he comes out okay. McGahee's been a monster on the field this season - in fact, his season was probably better than any season that Edgerrin James or Clinton Portis ever had.
With any luck, this is a lesson to Miami that doesn't go away for a long, long time - finish off your opponents early and often, like the 2001 team did. | mountinman44

The reports I read this morning is McGahee blew out his ACL. He won't be turning pro this year. He's lucky it wasn't worse. Knees aren't supposed to bend that way.
On the PI call, while I agree it was not PI, looking at the replay before the ball was thrown, there was a bunch of holding going on by the DB. They should have called that instead of PI. Either way, the ball was ending up on the 2. | count olaf

in pro ball, you can lose in OT and never even have an offence possession. but in college, like a baseball inning, both teams get a fair shake. i like that
i don't like the ball on the 25. make them fight for that FG if they go 3-out...put the ball on the 50.
then, if another OT is needed, they move in 5 yards closer, and if for some reason there are 10 OT's, the ball will move from the 5 to the 2 yard line on the 11th OT...
For those of you who watch FMC on TLC, i got that idea from their Sumo event

I can't remember if he's redshirted already or not, but with this injury, he may be able to get a medical redshirt and not lose a year of eligibility. It'd be a shame to see his collegiate career end on this kind of note.
But, for the game, it was really nice to see a Big Ten team NOT shoot itself in the foot and completely forget how to play football in the second half. That was a nice change of pace. I had thought that the faked field goal attempt in the first half that didn't get enough yardage was really going to come back to bite them, but the Miami Fiesta Bowl jinx continues. Absolutely awesome game, and they're already showing repeats of it next weekend on classic ESPN. | Quezzy

A friend I have said he did the same thing, tore all three, and it took him 2 years to recover and even then he only was about 90% and he was a Div I athlete, not as good an athlete as McGahee though, so i'm sure he will come along faster than that, but I still wouldn't expect him to play at all next year.
