Yeah Yeah, I know, it only makes them a game over .500, but the Yankees have won nine in a row.

Seems the pitching is getting healthy. Perhaps a wild card birth is withing reason.

They've beaten the White Sox, Pirates and DBacks. That's good for what ails any pitching staff. Let's see how they do against an American League team not run by an idiot before we go shouting comeback.

Last I checked, the D-Backs were one of the strongest teams in the National League before their series with the Yankees began. And not only that, but Brandon Webb is still one of the premier pitchers who just happens to be anonymous because he plays in Arizona.

The Yankees rotation needed this as a confidence booster. At the very least, they were able to work out some of the kinks and feel what it's like to be a winning team once again. Right now, that speaks volumes louder than who they beat.

So what was it Bill Simmons was saying about not leaving the Yankees breathing, because they just might come back like Jason or Freddy?

How sweet it is that the Mets ended the Yankees streak. The only thing better than that is Oliver Perez, who was supposedly an awful pitcher coming into this year, defeated Jesus Christ himself, Roger Clemens.

And after going on a hot streak, the Yanks have fallen back to Earth. They've been swept by the Rockies, which apparently isn't as shocking as one might think.

The Yankees had won 14 of 17 coming into town and never saw this thumping coming even though the Rockies are playing well -- a major league-best 20-7 since May 22 and an impressive 9-3 against the AL East.

Huh...there's an answer to a trivia question no one would get.
