Plants or not, am I the only one that thinks what happened on Smackdown the other night was not a good story idea? I can imagine some drunk taking a shot at a wrestlier now, especially Heidenrich (sp), and I've seen some several instances over the years of wrestlers taking legit shots back at them.

Reminds me of the old ECW Riot that had fans vs. the ECW Lockeroom. I have read about it countless times and wondered if wrestling had went to far then. You have a very vaild point. The situation that appeared on Smackdown could have easily started a riot if somebody thought it wasn't "part of the show".

They had quite a few security guards arround the part he went into. So it's probably safe to say that it was under control for the most part.

It freaked me out a bit too and sorta of presents a bad aura of saying you can attack the wrestlers or vice versa though you shouldn't. Normally the announce before shows the "rules" so fans and wrestlers don't get hurt during the show.

I don't really think that anybody can be quite that inebriated, but you never know, I guess.

ECW crowds are a whole other breed of people from WWE crowds. I don't think WWE crowds would riot any more at Heidenreich punching a plant than they would at a Canadian losing in Canada, which is always sure to start a riot if you listen to anyone else.

Gotta remember that 99% of WWE fans are sitting in their seats going "baha! This is fake! Entertainment!" because they've been told to take everything that way unless Michael Cole or JR put on their serious voice.

Most brutal fan attack I have seen involved the late Road Warrior Hawk.

It was on a very old AWA video of the Road Warrior. The Warriors were heading for a match, I think against Sgt. Slaughter and an unknown partner. As the Road Warriors were coming to the ring a fan folded his chair and smashed Hawk across the head! He and Animal went after the fan, but the security went after them all and the Road Warriors went to the ring and wrestled the match.

Hawk showed no sign of the attack, but I swear to this day that even Foley may have felt that shot.

You would have to be pretty damn drunk to try and pick a fight with any wrestler, particularly a guy as big as Heidenreich.

That's true, but I've seen some pretty drunk fans at wrestling events over the years...some of them looked like they could do some damage too, unless they were falling over themselves to get to a wrestler. I've been trying to remember since I started the thread, back in Chattanooga in the 70s, a wrestler used a real chain and busted open a fan that attacked him, it might have been the original Sheik...I was there but it's been a long, long time. I doubt the security was as aware of such as things as it is now, that's one good change.

When are 'fans' fans and not OVW or other minor promotion wrestlers. I saw the clips of the little kid crying after the Heidenreich attack and I wonder if that was taken out of context from the actual incident.

Didn't we have a fan run in during a Raw match a couple years ago? If memory serves it was a Guerrero/RVD match. As I recall, things did not go so good for the run-in. I am hoping I am not recalling a staged incidence.

I have never heard of this incident. Care to elaborate?

It was their ladder match to boot. Imagine the damage that could have happened.

I'm not for sure if this is the exact incident listed in the PWI Wrestling Almanac. I'm not for sure because I can't find the exact almanac at the moment. I believe it's listed in the 2000 one. Anyways, I think the actual one mentioned happened at the ECW Arena. This one happened in Harrisburg PA.

From wrestlingdb.com archived from the Torch

Buh Buh grabbed the mic and berated the fan, challenging him to enter the ring. He then challenged another fan to do the same. Buh Buh then challenged the entire building to step into the ring, whipping the crowd into a frenzy. From that point it broke down, with fans throwing garbage and then chairs into the ring. When fans began rushing the security railing, promoter Paul Heyman, watching from a walkway, came to ringside and didn't look at all happy. Security began throwing fans out. The Dudleys continued to taunt the fans, which seemed counter-productive given the situation. Buh Buh actually said, "We're still standing, mother f---ers!"

The mini-riot started all over again. At least two dozen chairs were lying around ringside. There were probably a dozen fans thrown out. Security was doing a good job, but the Dudleys, especially Buh Buh, were throwing debris back at the fans, even at people who weren't throwing anything.

Yeah, from what I remember, Guerrero was on the ladder when the fan came into the ring and pushed the ladder over. The fan was bald, so at first glance it looked like Steve Austin had made his return. Luckily, Eddie saw him coming so he jumped off of the ladder on his own, then gave the guy a nice punch for his trouble.

I can go back further.. am certain Hillbilly Jim was ringside and decided to ''save'' his hero? Hogan? and then started wrestling..also Sylvian Greiner was ringside and pulled from the crowd..correct?

When I first saw the Heidenrich thing I looked directly at the ''fans'' as my first thought was plants and I am sure one was one of the ''Hardy boys'' from a few weeks ago..the long haired skinny guy who was also a security guard when the Rock was escorted from the building.

( my apologies for not defining which shows ..I am not a religious watcher and compiler I just remember quirks)

A fan did a run in on the main event at the UK taped RAW just over a week ago. HBK kicked him outta there and Benoit did well to cover it by taking the match to the other side of the ring but some Jackass in the UK tried it.....

What of lesser attacks? Those that aren't physical but probably have equal effect as a punch...or harder.

I'm thinking of the situation where a rowdy fan poured beer on Eddie Guerrero's head during a house show...

Back in 1997 the Godwins had a match with the LOD. A fan started heckling Henry O, saying "you fuc* your mother you damn hillbilly dummy". Henry O grabbed his strap that he used to carry to the ring and whipped the fan once and, oh my god, it was the most severe, painfull thing Ive seen in all my life. Right across the face and neck. After the match, there was an intermission and I went out to the smoking section, and there was the fan crying, with bright red welts across his face. Alot of the fans went up to him and asked if he was going to sue, and he said he was. That was the most painful thing I have witnessed in all my life.
