I dont think there was one good performance in it. Now, Ready To Rumble was pretty bad, but I think NHB wins because any movie with Hogan as the lead can't possible be good. Oliver Platt wasnt so bad in RTR if you consider what he had to work with.

So, while both are cinematic turkeys, I'd rather rent Ready To Rumble anyday over No Holds Barred. | CRZ

Reposted on: 7.10.11 0429.01 | The only saving grace for Ready to Rumble is the Nitro Girls. The No Holds Barred movie was not overly bad, it was a classic VKM "E:True Hollywood Story". Body Slam did combine WWF, NWA, and AWA atars at the time, so historically it is the most important of the three.

I'm not saying No Holds Barred was a cinematic classic or anything, but it's one of numerous cheezy 80's movies that you can look back on now and laugh at. Plus, if you were ever a Hulkamaniac, you can look back and remember a time were Hogan wasn't just a selfish old man (he was a selfish young man, but still). And I always laugh at Hogan's badly-acted line "I don't want your money, Mr. Brell". I hear any of the lines in R2R, I just groan....

It's a hard movie to try and dig up facts on, since me and about 7 other people on earth know of its existance. The only time I ever saw it was on HBO at about 4 am over a decade ago and I've never seen it since.
But the lead/writer was a guy by the name of Ted Vernon, who incidentally now (thanks to me doing about 5 minutes worth of fact-checking dot org) runs an auto detail shop in South Florida. He also claims to have been a wrestler at one point, although I grew up going to territory shows at the MBCC and don't remember him at all. Although best way to describe him at the time would be to say he looked like one of the Vachons.
I'm reaching back into the far end of my memory for this, but essentially it was about a wrestler, an evil promoter, and a (VEEEERY KAYFABED) climatic final match between him and South Park Satan. But unbelivably cheesy and the action sequences are unintentionally hilarious. | geemoney
