Well, it's definitely a lot simpler to follow than Civil War.

The premise is simple. Hulk was shot into space. Hulk built a new life and had it destroyed by the people who sent him there. Hulk found a way back. Hulk is really pissed.

Hulk's greeting says it best (even if it does sound incredibly silly): "Puny humans. I've come to smash."

This issue is all about action. The fight between Hulk and Iron Man must be seen to be believed and it's hard to think of how Greg Pak can top himself in the next few issues. Although the Sentry is on deck for issue two, so anything can happen. Anyone turned off by Civil War's philosophical grandstanding can rest easy. You can safely turn your brain off for World War Hulk, as the draw looks to be a series of Hulk dream matches.

Highly recommended. And I'd also recommend trying out the WWH: X-Men tie-in (out June 20), which will see Hulk face off against the New X-Men, Wolverine, and Juggernaut.

Agreed about it being an awesome first issue. And with JR Jr. (one of the most underrated artists imo) you can be sure this one'll be on time. I'm a little miffed about Black Bolt being dispatched so easily. Between this, the Silent War, and that crappy Illuminati issue they're really depowering him and destroying his character; taking away the intrigue, poise, and smarts and making him look stupid or naive instead. One of the most unique things about him was his inability to speak yet command so much respect, and they've suddenly transformed his silence into a handicap that makes him look foolish.

It's not a Skrull.

The rest of the interview is here, but it does contain spoilers for New Avengers #31.

Pretty decent first issue, but since the fight scenes are what I came for I'd like them to be a bit longer. I suppose they're building up for later issues. That can't be the last we've seen of Iron Man. I'd also like to know what happened to Black Bolt. Hulk messed him up pretty bad, but I'm guessing he's not dead. If he's not dead, I'd like to know what Hulk's plan for the Illuminati actually is.

THIS was how you start out your big summer event. The Prelude issue from a few weeks ago and this issue have certainly helped take my mind away from CIVIL WAR.

I'm actually glad the fight between Hulk and Black Bolt was off page cause BB's pulped body hanging from Hulks hand on the last page was NASTY!

I'm pretty sure this takes place after SILENT WAR, so I'm guessing that black Bolt wasn't really at full strength, but even still Hulk's been powering up the past year, and before that, he was already, like, the fifth most powerful character in the Marvel Universe, so I'd say him taking out the Inhumans isn't out of character or context.

You gotta remember that this isn't "Hulk Smash!" Hulk either, This is a pissed off, cold and calculating Hulk with an agenda.
