| #1 Posted on 20.6.08 1810.34 Reposted on: 20.6.15 1813.21 | Okay, so I just got around to hooking up my Media Center to the cable and have been tinkering around, recording some shows and like it.
Now, other than just watching/recording tv, what can/should I be using the media center for? What can it do? I've been looking around and see add ons, but do not know what they are for/what I will gain from them.
Any suggestions? Promote this thread! | | wmatistic

I would definitely install Webguide, which turns your PC into a Slingbox that you can watch from anywhere with an Internet connection, and it's free.

I think it's only sold with a PC, though you can get it if you have a Technet subscription. Looks like ebay might be an option as well.
I should also add that it comes with at least some versions of Vista so it could be similar cost wise to just upgrade to Vista while you're at it.

Ah, to hell with Vista. My laptop came preinstalled with it, and with that, about half the HD space was taken by it.
