Good to see that the E's not doing anything rash in response to the Raw rating...

I wonder if they'll play this off as "Someone tried to kill me, but I found out about it and faked my death" since allegedly the plotline was to eventually reveal that he did indeed fake his death. Or would "someone tried to kill me" still cut too close to the bone?

I'm not sure if I want Vince back yet. Or ever. Not that it matters to WWE what I want.

Here's an idea for Vince's big return: Vince ends RAW next week by getting in his limo -- which then explodes.

They'll never see that coming.

I think he'll have everyone standing around the ring (except the stars), and start questioning their ruthless aggression.

Damn- I'll be at RAW this Monday, and I was hoping this would fall BEFORE Vince started taking up TV time again (if he does at all).

Well, at least the preview is ambigious enough for me to get sort-of excited wondering what it means.

ARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Glad I got that out of the way. I just hope Vince gets this "I Know Who Killed Me" search out of the way quickly. If we're lucky, it'll only take him two hours to find the culprit and punish him by putting him in a match against UUUUUUUUUUUUUUMAGA!

It hasn't even been two months since the Benoit murders happened and they're already back to doing fake death angles. It's like Vince hasn't learned a damn thing.

...what, has it been revealed that fake death angles cause the kind of behavioral breakdowns that Chris Benoit went through?

What was he supposed to learn?

Right now on wwe.com, underneath the announcement of Vince's return it says RAW is on 9/8 CT on the USA Network in EXTRA LARGE font.

Oh, so THAT'S why ratings dropped! People forgot what time and network RAW is on. Mystery solved.

I think a much better idea for next week's RAW from a promotional standpoint would have been to simply announce something like 'A HUGE STAR RETURNS'. With the likes of Triple-H, Rey, Jericho, Undertaker, HBK, etc. on people's minds, many more fans would have tuned in for something 'fresh'.

Of course the disappointment would have been huge when everyone saw that it was Vince, but hey ... we've all been let down A LOT over the last few months anyway.

Which leads to another point of why announce the exact date of a superstar's return? I guess to get more buys on the PPVs if we KNOW someone is going to be there. But the element of suprise could really help the ratings right now.

For a show about scripted, athletic competition, that doing a fake death is a tasteless angle. Especially when real wrestlers are dropping like flies on a daily basis. I'm almost expecting a montage to honor the dead in the last year and among them would be Sherri Martel, John Kronus, Nancy Benoit, and Vince McMahon.

It's just not a good time to be going back to the fake death angle. As if there was EVER a good time.

Wait a minute...who said anything about them continuing the "Vince Is Dead" angle? The article that particular splash page leads to is a recap of this past week's RAW and tells people to tune in to next week's fallout. No where does it even bring up McMahon's name other than the title of the article.

"McMahon Strikes Back" is relatively ambiguous. Could it mean it's being continued? MAYBE a SLIGHT chance, but considering McMahon has already appeared twice on television and the fact there's no other evidence to support the idea they're going back to that angle, I think it's a little unfair to jump to conclusions and condemn.

At least not until after it has ACTUALLY aired.

But maybe I missed something that is leading you to think otherwise. . .

Now that they are bringing Vince back they can make it like South Park and kill him in a new way each week. Then after every death they will have a wrestler go "OMG, they killed Vince!!!" as Ron Simmons walks into the camera shot and says "DAAAAMN!!!".

I would have had two months in the poll but my dumb ass didn't figure in CHRIS BENOIT KILLING HIS FUCKING FAMILY AND HIMSELF.

Otherwise I would have totally pwned all of you in that pool.

He already came on television and said it was a storyline. Hopefully, this will be the one time they drop an angle and never address it again and no one complains.

I don't think they would go back to the fake death story, just because karma already took them to the woodshed. That said, nothing Vince does could truly shock me anymore. Let's just say I'll judge it when I see it, see where it falls on what I feel are the potential extremes, good and bad.

Best case scenario: Vince McMahon has all of his Superstars surround the ring while he announces his new and improved Wellness Program, and pledges to make his programming "beyond reproach" in terms of working conditions - 'so we all can go out and put smiles on your faces'. Then he gets off camera until about next WrestleMania. (Even if it was 80% B.S. - by getting out in front of the issue he'd have a great chance of cutting the balls off any congressional hearings.)

Worst case scenario: Mr. McMahon semi-cryptically rants about all the bad publicity, how outsiders are trying to tell his audience what they can and can't see, how the government didn't get him before, and won't get him now. Then he introduces a match between "Nancy Grace" and "Geraldo Rivera".

Man, they put scrolling marquee on the bottom of the screen on Smackdown to plug it to. I wonder exactly where this could go. I'm leaning right now toward a 70-30 it actually being him serious about the Vince vs US again. He's always been big on the freedom of speech here in the United States.
