I'm gonna guess that most of the movie titles that will be mentioned have been titles seen by the general public, so let's keep an open mind about spoilers and such.

With that said, have there been any TV or movie deaths that left an impression on you? Be it violent, gruesome, or simply plain cool to see. To name a few...

- Samuel L. Jackson's in 'Deep Blue Sea'. Seeing this on the big screen back when it came out, my heart nearly stopped. When the role calls for it, he definitely does not die "like a sucka". Speaking of which...

- Flock Of Seagulls, in 'Pulp Fiction'. So random and out of nowhere, this is one of the first scenes that made me a Sam Jackson fan for life. I'm sorry, did that break your concentration?

- Trinity in 'Matrix Revolutions'. I laughed out loud more than anything mostly due to the drawn out monologue. One guy in the theater even yelled for her to hurry up.

- Doyle in 'Angel'. I'm a bit of a mark for the good guy doing the extremely noble act and sacrificing himself for a greater good. I was even more saddened when I found out Glenn Quinn died for real later on.

- Fred & Wesley, also in 'Angel'. While I can't say I've religiously followed Buffy or Firefly, Joss certainly had a way to get you attached to a character... and then crushing your heart string by making that character suffer a violent or useless death.

The floor is open.

Goriest: The one that always stands out in my head after all these years is from the very first "Phantasm" movie where the flying steel ball sticks in the persons forehead and then starts drilling thru it as the guys blood and brains spray out an opening in the back of the steel ball.

Favorite death to watch: Mel Gibson killing the evil British Colonel at the end of the movie "The Patriot".

I always liked that one gigantic bald nazi getting sliced up by the propellor in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but that's more of a favorite fight scene than anything else.

The hyenas killing Scar in the Lion King is pretty awesome, up until that point they're just bumbling henchmen, and then they get to be vicious.

Actually, Disney cartoons typically kill off the villain in pretty great ways, granted most of it is via falling, in Tarzan the dude accidentally hangs himself on some vines.

The death of Dr. Cox's brother-in-law (played by Brendan Fraser) in Scrubs was done very well.

Also, a second vote for the ending of The Patriot. I loved that movie back in high school.

The anti-climactic fight in Yojimbo, where the dude dodges a bullet and just slices through everybody in under a minute.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=eijUlCEAyAw

this link lacks subtitles or the best part at the end, where Sanjuro gives the guy his gun back before he dies.

Count Rugen in The Princess Bride. The babyface comeback by Inigo, with the "HELLO! MY NAME IS INIGO MONTOYA, YOU KILLED MY FATHER, PREPARE TO DIE!" and then STAB! "I want my father back, you son of a bitch!"

When Korben Dallas kills one of the Mangalore leaders in The Fifth Element: "Anyone else wanna negotiate?"

Second that vote for Scar's death in The Lion King.

Dick Jones's death at the end of Robocop. Robocop tells the OCP president that he cannot move against an employee of the company, but he shows the evidence, Jones freaks, holds a gun to the president's head. "Dick, you're FIRED!" Robocop: "Thank you." [BLAM!]

The death of Weyoun 7 at the hands of Worf in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. "I would hate for you to die without the good Doctor Bashir knowing how you feel about him," he says to Ezri. Unfortunately he got way too close to Worf, who snaps his neck instantly-- and Damar laughs and laughs!

And speaking of Star Trek, gotta love Kruge's death in ST3: "I... HAVE HAD... ENOUGH OF YOOOOOOOOOU!"

Agreed, and especially in Final Destination 2. That features my favorite death of all time. It's when the drug addict dude is in the field, and the fence comes up and goes through his entire body. I laughed out loud for a while.

So many to name, but here are a few.

- John Amos in Die Hard 2. He goes through the plane's engine. Ick. (Also, that's exactly how Syndrome went out in the Incredibles.)

- Norman Osborn. "Oh."

- Jeff Daniels in Speed, because he has a similar Norman Osborn-moment. Dennis Hopper, too. "Yeah, well I'm *taller*."

- "Did you not sign an Organ Donor card?"

- Just about anyone that Jason Bourne kills.

- Kevin Spacey at the end of Seven. "He didn't know."

I'll see your Dick Jones, and I'll raise you Clarence Boddicker getting IMPALED in the neck, followed by a gigantic glob of blood.

As a kid the death of Optimus Prime in the TF movie had a great impact on me.
And even more when he died again (or seemingly) by steering his space ship into the sun.
Those two moments? erhm..yeah..a speck of dust flew in my eye.

Other stuff..Boromir in LOTR (it's such a bittersweet moment. he was a jerk, but dies as a good guy, finally on the same page as his 'king')

Right now nothing comes to mind in the "visually awesome deathscene" department

I'll second the death of Prime, but I'm surprised that no one's mentioned the death of Roy in Blade Runner. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. "

The best were from Saving Private Ryan. All of them. "Look Ma, I washed up for Dinner", Sniper shot through the scope, Giovanni Ribisi soaking up the morphine, Adam Goldberg getting the knife, Tom Sizemore getting the tank shell, Jeremy Davies shooting the nazi, and "Earn this...". All of them had a sense of gravity.

For ones that were fun to watch, though, I'd have to say "Valentines Day" when the guy gets axed in the back, "Friday the 13th part 3" where the girl has her face pushed into the wall of a camper, and you could see the imprint from outside, anything from a movie made by GWAR, the Atlanteans in "Eric the Viking", and most anything from "Final Destination".

As for TV, 'Heroes'.

Again I think this falls more into "favorite fight scene" territory, but: Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon
